Overview

Two Times Available: 12:00noon DAY or 5:20pm NIGHT Tour Let's explore the Gion District geisha streets and take a deep dive into the "real Kyoto" in this magical, night walking tour. The expert guide will share with you all the hidden details of the closed world of geishas and mysterious Shinto shrines. This is a walking tour going through several geisha districts, shrines, and beautifully preserved historic districts of Kyoto's Higashiyama area. The tour is about 3hr 30m. The guide is an expert, speaking very clear & easy to understand, native English. The guide is extremely knowledgeable and will be able to answer all your questions in detail. The guide will select a refreshing Kyoto snack during the break. (a small snack, not a full meal...will make every effort to cater to dietary restrictions such as vegetarian, vegan as well) You will get deep insight into the Japanese way-of thinking, culture, and traditions that can't be experienced on other tours.

Highlight of Japan trip! Must do!

This was incredible! The sites, especially the shrines, are so different and magical at night. We went with our adult children and they loved it as much as we did. We saw 2 Geisha and a Meiko. The matcha snack was so great as well. We all agreed this was the highlight of our trip to all of Japan. Thank you Richard for a perfectly curated tour.

Richard, our tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable about Gion and its surrounding neighbourhoods. The tour was jam packed and I’d recommend wearing good shoes! Richard pointed out great picture spots and provided recommendations for visiting other places of interest. We left the tour with a much better knowledge and a greater appreciation of the wonderful Geisha culture.

We used private guides in Japan until this tour, which was for a small group. But it turned out to be the best one. Richard shared a wealth of information in perfect English- he’s one of the most articulate people you’ll meet. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The snack included was high quality, not some random cheap place. We learned so much and it was very entertaining as well.
