This tour was awesome! Ayumi had a great and engaging presentation style and was super knowledgeable. I loved learning more about the maikos and geikos and getting to see several of them out and about. Thank you Ayumi!

A fun learning experience

Our guide, Melanie, did a brilliant job of explaining Geisha culture (or “Geiko,” as they are known in Kyoto, the birthplace and heart of this traditional form of entertainment), having studied it carefully since moving to Kyoto from Norway. She was knowledgeable and entertaining and everyone in our group of 16 enjoyed her tour. While the areas we visited are all readily accessible, the experience was much better in the company of a talented guide. Highly recommended.
