Spend a few hours experiencing the wonders of Rotorua’s most unique geothermal reserve at Hell’s Gate. Take part in the guided or self-guided interactive geothermal walk, before trying your hand at Maori carving in the interactive carving house.   • The minimum age for the Mud Bath is 2.5 years, and for the Sulphur Spa is 6 months.
  • Children are considered those aged 5 -15. Under 4s are free when accompanied by a paying adult.

This was truly wonderful. Very informative talk/guided tour by Tee. The mud bath was wonderful as was the spa. We had a great time and would highly recommend this place to all.

My family and I had a wonderful afternoon at Hell's gate. We just loved the mud bath experience and our skins were so soft afterwards. Also got some fun photos during the 30 min you are allowed to stay in the mud bath! Then we soaked in the hot springs for awhile. It wasn't super crowded and the facility managed the guests well. We explored the various thermal pools and the colors were just stunning. Highly recommend!

The Hell's Gate experience was very enjoyable. The mud bath and sulphur spas were incredibly enjoyable and relaxing. The walk around the entire path showing the mud pots and sulphur pools was very interesting.

We were worried we would miss the experience given we were delayed by 2 hours waiting for our campervan and then dealing with multiple road closures. Despite arriving over an hour late for our booking, the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The experience itself is great. We did the self guided option. There is plenty of information around the site and you can move at your pace. The wood carving at the end is a nice touch as well.
