Overview

Samurai and Kyoto have always been associated throughout history. From the early Heian period to the collapse of the Tokugawa shogunate the samurai and ninja always roamed the streets of Kyoto. Now they are back! The samurai and ninja museum brings back the history and helps you to have a glimpse of these heroes’ glorious lives. What is more, you can have a hands on experience including wearing a real samurai armor, taking a katana lesson, doing a shuriken (ninja star) throw and using a ninja fukiya all in one place, all included in the tour.

Great museum with interesting exhibits on the history of samurai and ninjas. Our tour guide was brilliant. Loved the ninja star throwing experience!

The collection of weapons and armor is amazing, Kento was a great guide and very knowledgeable about all of the pieces. Throwing shuriken is also a plus!

The museum and tour were super informative. Our guide Kenton spoke good English and was entertaining. I felt like I was able to connect with the culture, and had a fun time with the short shuriken practice!

Well worth doing for all ages, really enjoyed the exhibits and also the guide. We learnt a lot about Kyoto, Japan and also the whole history . The swords were our favourites and very educational.

Wanted to see and learn about the history of the Samurai in Japan. So glad I did. It was a guided tour with an excellent English spoken guide. Very informative and interactive where you get to touch/hold the swords and guns. Spent about 1 1/2 to 2 hours at the museum in air conditioned comfort. Groups are reasonable size too so not fighting for space to see what the guide is talking about. Great price at approximately $30AUD per ticket for an adult. Highly recommend.
