Overview

A tour to truly take you back in time. On this tour, you will have the chance to visit your "long lost cousins", who were living in this area about 125,000 years ago. The new Krapina Neanderthal Museum is a unique visiting complex, with the museum's architecture evoking the habitat of the prehistoric man. You will be able to learn all about the findings of this initial dig, and what it meant and changed regarding the understanding of our ancestors and origins. Your next stop will take you to the Medieval period. If you think of a typical castle, that is exactly what Trakošćan looks like: a beautiful and breathtaking fairy tale castle. Inside, there is a museum with a permanent exhibition which will give you the perfect insight to the life of a royal in this period of time. . The last stop is the picturesque city of Varaždin where you can get lost in its streets learning about the local stories and legends along the way.

  • Trakoscan Castle (Dvor Trakoscan)

    This next stop takes you to a medieval period . Imagine a castle! Did you? Yes, that is exactly how Trakošćan looks like! A beautiful , breathtaking fairy tale castle. The most attractive and most visited Croatian castle is sitting on a hilltop surrounded by a lake, looking over a gentle landscape of Croatian Zagorje. Inside, there is a museum with a permanent exhibition which will give you perfect insight to a life in period of royal's.

  • Krapina Neanderthal Museum

    Scientifically known as Homo sapiens Neanderthalensis, the Krapina prehistoric man was discovered all the way back in 1899, when geological and paleontological research started on Hušnjakovo hill in Krapina – now you have to visit your long lost cousins who were living in this area about 125,000 years ago. The new Krapina Neanderthal Museum is a unique visiting complex. The Museum's architecture evokes the habitat of the prehistoric man.
