Overview

On this 8-hour private tour from Salzburg, you will not only experience the natural beauty of the Lake District including a visit of Schloss Fuschl at the Lake Fuschl and one of the most famous lake villages of the World, the World Heritage Village Hallstatt you will also visit the Salt Mine of Hallein. Travel back in time and follow in the footsteps of the Celts on a tour of the Hallein Salt Mine. This is the mine where the Celts began mining salt in 600 BC and where the prince archbishops of Salzburg later got their white gold from.

    Be ready for pickup at 09.00 am at your Salzburg hotel. Make yourself comfortable in your comfortable touring vehicle and experience the beautiful landscape that the famous ‘Salzkammergut’ lake region has to offer. After a short drive from Salzburg, you’ll reach the castle of Fuschl. Capture a picture of the castle of Fuschl with the emerald-green Lake Fuschlsee as its backdrop, before heading on to St. Gilgen with Lake Wolfgang, the next photo stop.

  • St Gilgen Mozartplatz

    The next highlight is Wolfgang Lake and the villages St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang. Capture a picture of St. Wolfgang from a great view point before arriving at the next town, in Bad Ischl. The drive will take you through Bad Ischl, which is famous for the “Kaiser” (Emperor) Villa and the Café Zauner, and on to Bad Goisern and Hallstatt.

    After arriving in Hallstatt, the highlight of this full day tour, your private guide will show you the must-sees of Hallstatt, including a beautiful photo spot of Hallstatt, the Charnel House (Bone House), the Hallstatt Museum, Hallstatt's waterfall "Waldbachstrub", Hallstatt's residential area and much more. Heaven on Earth

The most beautiful village we've ever visited in 50 years of travel A photographer's dream, no target is boring. Visit the salt mine and view an underground wooden stairway constructed 7000 years ago. Every waterfall and stream, woven through the neighborhood, piques an interest. Problem is the day-trippers smoke constantly and the stench of barbequed tobacco wafts throughout the streets. Inconsideration from all the potential lung cancer recipients, but what do they care?

This was a wonderful experience for our group of 6! Patrick kindly stopped at several beautiful lake view photo ops along the way before we went to the salt mine (entry fee not included) and Hallstat. Everyone had fun at the salt mine, and we enjoyed a nice meal overlooking the lake thanks to Patrick's recommendation in Hallstat, a charming little town. The door-to-door service from our Salzburg hotel was fantastic.

Fun Fun Fun -Educational and Exhilarating

Our tour guide was absolutely amazing, funny, knowledgeable, and spoke both German and English. What an incredible experience- from putting on required pants and shirts and going into the mine and the wooden slides you take down. There are two of them. The second one is long and for me I was scared to death but leaned back on my husband and prayed it would go quick. It was fascinating and I am so glad I did it, despite being claustrophobic. The tour itself is wonderful and seeing the lake when you get to the bottom is just crazy amazing. I loved this and it was the highlight of our trip to Hallstatt. I definitely would not miss this. The walk up to the salt mines is steep and lots to see on the way. We loved the entire journey. I hope you found this helpful.
