Overview

Meet your private guide at your Hotel or any given address in Salzburg. Hop on your luxury minivan and enjoy a 6 hour private tour. Experience the pearl of the Lake District, the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE site of Hallstatt. Tour the Lake District with your private guide. Stop at the shore of emerald green Lake Fuschl (Palace Fuschl). Visit iconic landmarks on the way to Hallstatt. Enjoy the views over Lake Wolfgang from a great view point in St. Gilgen. Drive through Bad Ischl the former summer capital of the great Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. In Hallstatt get the opportunity to board the funicular to the Hallstatt Skywalk 360 meters above the town (optional, extra cost). Then enjoy time to discover hidden gems, stroll charming streets, shop, or have lunch in a lakeside restaurant ( own expense). On our way home Lake Gosau with the glistening Dachstein glacier as a backdrop awaits us for a short stop.

    We leave the city of Salzburg behind on our way to the Lake District. Your private guide will explain about the city of Salzburg and how it for many years it was a independent principality, ruled by the Catholic Church and the importance of Salt and how it influenced the growth of the city. Other points of interest will be explained on route to Hallstatt. You will enjoy our off the beaten track over the mountains where you can enjoy unspoiled scenery.

  • Rosewood Schloss Fuschl

    Walk down to the emerald green Lake Fuschl, capture a picture of the castle Fuschl a former hunting lodge of the Prince Archbishops, built in 1450. Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains that frame the lake.

    Admire the beautiful architecture of the Red Bull headquarters and see one of the largest cast bronze sculptures in Europe.

  • Mozartblick

    Enjoy dramatic views above the Lake Wolfgang and the town of St. Gilgen. This is the area that was shown during the opening scene of the Sound of Music. You also have a view to the Schafberg where Maria and the children took the train up to the picnic meadow.

    See the town center of St. Gilgen, including town hall, Mozart fountain and the birth place of Mozart's mother.

    Optional: Take the train up to the Skywalk. When you stand on the “Skywalk”, Hallstatt lies right there at your feet. You look down on the world-famous World Heritage town, the cradle of the Hallstatt Period. Sparkling mystically, Hallstätter See nestles up against the medieval town like a fjord, flanked wonderfully by the spectacular panoramas of the Dachstein.

    In Hallstatt, your private guide will point out all the hidden gems of the town, which include a beautiful photo spot of Hallstatt, Charnel House (Bone House), Hallstatt Museum, Hallstatt Waterfall "Waldbachstrub", the Sky View Platform, Hallstatt's local residence area and more. You will have 2 hours to explore Hallstatt with all its sights, as well as have lunch at one of the beautiful lake side restaurants in Hallstatt (lunch not included in price).

Michael, our guide, welcomed us warmly into our first day in Salzburg. He gave an in-depth experience of Salzburg, Hallstatt, the surrounding area and local architecture, as well as interesting historical facts. He was very a great source of ideas for sightseeing, points of interest, as well as outdoor activities. He was wonderful and we felt like family!

Michael was an exceptional guide. Very humorous and also an extremely safe driver. Showed us the most beautiful parts of Salzburg and Hallstatt. He was also flexible to change the itinerary for our private group and gave us a lot of knowledge about the history of Salzburg, Hallstatt and the famous salt mines which we did and you should not miss.

I don’t even know where to start! We booked a private tour to Hallstatt with Viator. Our driver/tour guide Michael Toth was beyond fantastic! The itinerary was just perfect and he customized the stops based on our preferences. He was so knowledgeable, friendly and funny! He gave us recommendations for things to do after our tour as well that were spot on. We had a wonderful lunch in Hallstatt (an adorable town) with the perfect table right in the water thanks to Michael! If five stars Is the top rating I give this tour and Michael a 10! Worth every penny!

5 Star Amazing Day in Hallstatt and the Lake Region with Carlos

Our guide, Carlos, was truly fantastic with our family. He told us stories of the region, history of Austria, other travel stories, and shared the culture of the Upper Austria region with us. He also tailored our adventure through the Lakes Region for our family and the weather. He knew some secret places for us to venture that saved us time to make the most out of the trip. We plan to connect with Carlos again to adventure through the region during Christmas time!
