Beautiful town but average guide. I suggest company calls places you visit and pass on new season's prices to all guides - skywalk. Also I had checked ahead so knew ossary was open - in fact earlier in day than advertised (could have been pushed for time otherwise). And guide not particularly keen on taking on ant comments.
This concert was simply amazing! The singer had an incredible voice, and the atmosphere was magical. The staff was extremely friendly, making us feel welcome from start to finish. The complimentary glass of sparkling wine was the perfect touch. We had a fantastic evening and will definitely recommend it to others!
For Sound of Music fans this is a must! It is possible to visit many of the locations by foot yourself but this is the better way to get your fix. Our guide Mitch was great fun and engaging. The tour brings you to all of the key shooting locations in a SOM designed bus, the soundtrack is played too so enjoy the sing-along! Visiting the Cathedral where the wedding was filmed is spectacular, particularly as the journey takes you through the Lake District area which is breathtaking. The tour does not feel rushed and you have plenty of time for photographs and recreating your favourite scenes. Thanks again to Mitch!!
We did not expect this tour to go into the history of art in Austria from earlier periods, but our guide advised us to look at some pieces to trace the development of art, promising that it would make us appreciate Klimt's works more. And we really did learn to appreciate Klimt's creativity and talent more completely. Seeing how much Klimt was able to put into his art made us respect and admire his work so much more. The Kiss is a masterpiece like no other! We loved this tour and would highly recommend it!
We decided to do this trip just today. We didn't really think about doing it, but how glad am I that we did. It was fantastic. From beginning to end, it was amazing. You first of all have to get to the base camp (as such) which you do by travelling in the funicular which is like a cable car which goes up the side of the mountain. It only takes about 2 minutes. You then have to walk about 350m to get to the start of the mine. We had a fantastic guide with us today, and I was very impressed by her German English and French (even though she said she can't speak French). The whole trip takes approximately 3 hours, and the visual displays inside are amazing. It's hard to believe you are actually about 350m into a mountain and about 85m underground. It was such a great experience. If you have the pleasure of staying in beautiful Hallstatt, you should really do this tour. It is the oldest mine in the world seemingly. The trip costs €80 for 2 of us. It is an experience I will never forget.
We had a fun and entertaining evening. Warm reception when we arrived and it was well organised. We received a card to show our waiter so we could order drinks and pay at the end of the night. The music, singing and dancing was excellent and the host was great. After show entertainment was also great. The food was tasty but would have preferred an alternative starter as it was beef followed by beef. That was the only negative We got a discount booking online last minute through an agent, so it was great value.
