Are you tired of city noise and a fast-paced lifestyle? Then we would highly recommend you to visit this tour on one of your first days in the Netherlands! We believe, that blooming gardens, old wooden houses, cozy green alleys, and fabulous apple pie served for lunch on the banks of a canal overgrown with apple trees and hydrangeas are one of the best medicines against urban bustle! We will meet at the Amsterdam Centraal Station, from where we will take a bus to ride to those fabulous towns - Edam and Volendam. The travel time takes no more than 20 minutes. Strolling along incredibly beautiful streets with a view of canals, infinite fields with wooden houses, farms, and wild swans.     Amsterdam Station Noord - our meeting point. From there we will take a bus to ride to those fabolous towns - Edam and Volendam. The travel time takes no more than 20 minutes.

    Edam City Center - strolling along an incredibly beautiful streets with a view of canals, infinite fields with wooden houses, farms and wild swans, we will see a lot of sightseeings, such as: the Weigh House, the most humpback bridge in the country, the cheese museum, catholic church and lots of cozy hofjes! We have a lot of stories to tell you, starting with the history and traditions of this town and ending with farming innovations!

    Weight house - there we would like to tell more about Dutch trading traditions, cheese markets and its influence. Let’s find out who the cheese king is and why cheese-porters are still getting piece of an almond cake as their salaries!

    Old hofjes - let’s visit one of the beautiful cozy yards, where we will discuss medieval charity system in the Netherlands and modern social housing;

    Volendam City Center - we will get lost in the cozy streets of this fishing town, walk around the promenade overlooking the yachts and taste some local delicacies, such as famous Dutch herring and cheese! Genuinely lovely local guide plans pleasant day trip exploring less-traveled gems around Amsterdam

Maria was incredibly nice and easy-going during my family's 3 hour day trip around two towns outside of Amsterdam. These two communities differed significantly in traditions and Maria's discussion and engagement about each's characteristics made it really special. My family and I were pretty worn out from traveling that morning but Maria made it a great time nevertheless! Maria was accommodating and flexible to our pace and was genuine, honest, and funny as she answered our raining of random questions. I would love to go on another of Maria's trips!

Our guide was very punctual. He was waiting in front of the train station with a sign that had the tour company's name on it. This made him very easy to locate. We took the local bus to Edam and Volendam. That in itself is an enjoyable experience as you see so much countryside dotted with farms and canals. The guide was very friendly and informative. There were lots of visual aides that helped to see what the towns looked like in the past in comparison to the current landscape. He knew all kinds of interesting history and quirky facts of both Edam and Volendam. Both towns were beautiful in completely different ways. This is a perfect day trip from Amsterdam. It gives you a break from the chaos for a few hours in a much calmer setting. We highly recommend this tour.
