Overview

As locals who love to eat, we've learned that Edinburgh has a huge amount of diversity to offer on the culinary front beyond just traditional dishes - we want to show it to you! I (William) will be hosting you. I want to share my passion for eating in Edinburgh by showcasing hidden gems in the food industry while supporting local family businesses. We've handpicked each dish based on personal favourites, while taking in mind the history and heritage of each location. We've spent the last year researching the tour, visiting our favourite locations and getting to know the owners and their stories. There are a lot of hidden gems in Edinburgh that people don't know about and we've included dishes you wouldn't expect to eat in Scotland. On this tour you'll be away from the tourist traps, with changing locations and dishes based on what's available in the city on that day. Once we come to an end, we'll provide personal recommendations to help you make the most of your vacation!

Itinerary

  • National Museum of Scotland (Pass By)

    Our Tour will start at the famous National Museum of Scotland, where we will walk into the heart of Edinburgh to begin our eating journey!

    We'll pass by the former main hospital of Edinburgh to begin our first culinary experience - Best Roti's in Edinburgh are available here - expect crunchy, fluffy, juicy roti's with a fantastic sauce to dip!

  • The Meadows

    The Meadows (Edinburgh's Central Park) is home to the student community and a real hub for Fringe, Music and Arts at all times. This will be the hub of our tour, but for food! Here, we will sample some of the below: - Traditional Scottish Sausage Rolls (a true delicacy) - Scottish produced Foccacia Chicken Sandwiches - Peanut Butter Dan Dan Noodles - Soup Dumplings - Pancakes (with a twist!) - French brownies & Carrot Cake - Surprise Supermarket Sweep *Dishes do vary depending on season, but will always be chosen based on the best quality on the day for the quality of the tour.

    The final stop of our tour - view the beautiful architecture of the Old College, with an option to head into the Art Exhibition. Here, we will settle down with our final desert option of the day and debrief, giving bespoke recommendations to those who are staying in the city and/or visiting London.

Truly great experience

An unforgettable experience! Will (the host) was incredible, very knowledgeable and extremely passionate. It gave us a great insight into the amazing foods that Edinburgh has to offer, but also a nice tour of the city along the way with plenty of opportunities for photos. We wished we had done this on the first day so we could have done some more of Wills recommendations. 10/10 food tour. I would recommend to anyone!

An incredibly authentic tour of Edinburgh’s vibrant food scene! Although I have already been on multiple Edinburgh food tours, Will introduced us to some hidden gems we never knew existed. Will's enthusiasm for food is evident in his diverse selection of dishes, each proving new and exciting flavours. Will recommends these spots based on his personal experiences and has a deep understanding of each restaurant’s unique history. I would highly recommend this tour for anybody looking for some great food, whilst learning about the rich history of Edinburgh and the people who make the city what it is today!
