From the get-go, our guide, Carlos, was so personable and approachable that we knew it was gonna be a great day. And it was. Our first time we tried the cullin skink and haggis at a lively pub that played the best tunes. Next stop was a quaint shop offering cranachan. I normally do not like raspberries and pretty much despise whiskey but put the whiskey in some honey sauce and add some toasted oats and vanilla ice cream, and I was in heaven. That's the great thing about food tours is you try things outside of your comfort zone and sometimes you discover things that you never thought you would like. We went to a whiskey tasting next, and while I knew it was part of the itinerary, I do think it would be nice to offer an alternative to those that do not like that type of liquor. But I know Scotland is known for that and of course you need to do that. We sampled some fudge at a local shop and also went to a really cute little bakehouse that had tea and scones. The history and stories Carlos told on the way made the time spent during the tour go by so fast. Would highly recommend.
