Overview

Explore the beautiful Douro Region, a traditional place born in the culture of wine production. Douro Valley has one of the most stunning landscapes in the world, rich for its sinuous terracing, a place where man overcame the land slopes to plant vines wich made this region to be considered a World Heritage Siteand one of the world’s oldest Demarcated Wine Region (since 1756). You will have the opportunity to taste some of Douro’s best wines, in selected estates that show you the best of this region in terms of tradition, uniqueness and quality. On the Douro valley, you will have the opportunity to admire the magnificent landscapes on a 1hour boat cruise along the river in the traditional rabelo boat, if you select it. If you preffer, you can discover deeply the village, its people and streets and skip the cruise. During the day, you will enjoy the real Portuguese gastronomy and awarded wines, blended with knowledge, relaxation and fun!

    The Douro Valley is a magical place where man overcome nature to create an amazing landscape where hills are covered by vines that produce a wine recognized worldwide "the Port". His a wine region like no other in the world, the wine is produced in the hill sloops where the cooperation of men hard work and nature allowed the creation of this "reino maravilhoso" (marvelous kingdow) has the poet Miguel Torga described it.

    If you wish you can upgrade your tour with an optional 50m boat cruise on the Douro River that will allow you to admire the landscape from a different perspective. Going upstream from the village of Pinhão admire the river banks covered by vines and bordered by wine estates of some of the most know Port wine brands, before starting going back to Pinhão.

An amazing day under the sun of the Douro Valley

We had a great day and visited two wine estates. We learned a lot and shared great moments with the group. A big thank you to Hernan, our guide who made this day a great time. He is an excellent driver and all his anecdotes were really enriching. The atmosphere was great and the playlists were tastefully chosen. Thanks again!

Best wine tour

Our guide, Hernan, was exceptional. His knowledgeable of the countryside along with his experience of making and producing wine was commendable. My knowledge of wine expanded tremendously at the end of this tour. He gave each guest on the tour individual attention and was diligent to include each of us into the conversation, as several of us were from different countries. We all made new friends and throughly enjoyed each others’ company. Definitely recommend this tour if you want to get away from the large tourist attractions and enjoy the culture.

Great time in Douro Valley

We went on a truly memorable tour of the Douro Valley with a boat ride and two wine tastings. The Douro Valley is incredible, even more beautiful than you might expect. The picturesque landscape, scenery, residents, and history are amazing. We had a wonderful and plentiful lunch with many traditional dishes. We toured two excellent wineries and learned so much about the wine making process and interesting history. Our guide Alex gave us some great insight into Portuguese wines, food, and culture. He helped to make this tour incredibly memorable. We highly recommend this tour and suggest you ask for Alex for a great experience.

Fabulous day at the Douro Valley

A very special day in the Douro Valley, we where picked up by Hernan with a big smile at 8.30am and drove in a very comfortable car to the valley, Hernan was fabulous and very informative, his knowledge in wine making and all sorts of grapes, as well he taught how to enjoy the wine to the fullest, he was absolutely fantastic, first we had a cruise on the Douro river we went to a small but very upscale, by the name Quinte Do Cume which we absolutely loved., They were very informative and the wine was very good, we where happy to hear that they are selling in Ontario Canada, We had a traditional delicious lunch and after that we went to another winery more established in the Douro Valley which made fantastic port wines and olive oil and Honey which we loved and perched, we wanted to buy port wine as well but we couldn’t as we are traveling all over Portugal. Overall amazing experience thank you Hernan.

Great day trip to the Douro

We had a great trip with Violeta. She was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the Douro and every stop we did. Will definitely aim to do another trip with her next time we are in Porto!
