Private tours are available at various times: 1) Day times (morning & afternoon tours) 2) A golden hour tour (next-to-last departure time before the sunset tour) 3) A sunset tour (last tour of the day that includes sunset and the magic/blue hour time) Tour description: Experience the beauty of Porto in a whole new way on this 2-hour private sailing cruise aboard the Argonauta, a 32-foot, charming and classic motor sailor, built by the reputed Swedish boatyard Hallberg-Rassy. Sailing through Douro River allows you to take in the famous Ribeira (old town) and view the typical Porto houses and the cellars as they were meant to be seen, from the water. Plus, you'll enjoy spectacular views of Arrábida bridge, and Dom Luís I bridge and the beautiful sights of bird’s sanctuary and the Douro River mouth flowing into the Atlantic Ocean.

    On this 2-hour Douro river private sailing cruise you’ll experience a different Porto on the water. The meeting point is at Douro Marina in front Deck C and then you’ll board on the Argonauta. Once sailing on the water, you’ll enjoy the most breathtaking views of Douro river estuary and Porto city, whilst getting a running commentary of famous sites (Arrábida bridge, Dom Luís I bridge, Ribeira, cellars etc). Your 2-hour cruise concludes at Douro Marina situated in the picturesque fishing community called St. Peter of Afurada, here, you can continue visiting this parish at your leisure and own expense. Bring your camera, your sunglasses, some sunscreen, and don't forget to bring a Bluetooth device loaded with your favourite music.     The Ribeira district spreads alongside the Douro river and used to be a centre of intense commercial and manufacturing activity since the Middle Ages. Also since that time the Ribeira Square was the site of many shops that sold fish, bread, meat and other goods.

    It is an urban parish in the city of Gaia. Afurada is located near the mouth of the Douro river, where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. It is a traditional fishing village and was created as such. Its patron saint is Saint Peter, hence the name São Pedro, the equivalent in Portuguese.

  • Reserva Natural Estuario do Douro (Pass By)

    The Douro estuary is located in the parish of São Pedro da Afurada, it has an area of 62 hectares, it is a resting, feeding and sheltering place for many species of migratory birds.

  • Molhe e Farolim de Felgueiras (Pass By)

    The Felgueiras Lighthouse is situated at the edge of the Douro's river mouth and the Atlantic coastline of Foz do Douro.

Do NOT do a group tour-you MUST do this! You won't regret it.

Raul was a great Host on our private sunset cruise. He is so personable and speaks fluent English. And he took a ton of photos of us on my iphone which was so nice to have versus 'selfies'. The boat was really comfortable and this was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. We saw a lot of group tour boats and they were packed with people, while we enjoyed the entire boat to ourselves, with our own 'tour guide' :-)

Boats captain is wonderful. Knowledgeable about his boat and the Rio Douro. Port wines tasting is exceptional. Would do this again!

Raul is the bestEST, most attentive host. He shared lots of fascinating stories about Portugal, Porto & Porto wine. Wine tasting with a sunset view was breathtaking. Raul took massive amount of pictures of us during the trip. Definitely recommend

Nice afternoon cruise along the Douro

Wonderful two-hour cruise in the Douro with Captain Harold and his trusty colleague. His argonaut vessel is a nice way to enjoy the river and surrounding sights. He is a font of knowledge about the river, Porto and port vino, especially red and white by Real Campanha Velha! He takes great pics and videos with your camera too! Enjoy an outing with Capt Harold when in Porto!
