Overview

Join our guided countryside bike tour & explore the beautiful Dutch countryside of Waterland, north of Amsterdam. The tour include stories & photo opportunities along the way. Our guide will take you on a scenic route along the North Holland Canal, passing a windmill & charming Dutch landscapes. Don't miss this bike tour. We offer two options for this tour. A Long tour with E-bikes or a Short tour with normal bikes! Both tours are for experienced and fit cyclists only! A. Long tour on E-bikes: Visit a traditional Dutch cheese farm to see Gouda cheese & wooden shoe making at a clog make workshop. The route is covering 37km/23 miles. This tour requires a minimum height of 5' 1" feet (155 cm) to ride our pedal assisted E-Bikes. We cycle at 18/20 km per hour. B. Short tour on normal bikes: Covering 23km/14 miles through charming villages like Zunderdorp & Ransdorp. See a windmill and wildlife of the lowlands. Taste some farmhouse cheeses. There is no clog workshop visit on this tour

    We are taking a ferry over the IJ river that divides Amsterdam. We will go with our bikes on the Ferry

    On our way to the beautiful village of Broek in Waterland, we will go through Amsterdam North.

  • Monnickendam (Pass By)

    *only available on the long version of the tour* We will ride through this little beautiful fishery city on the borders of the former Southern Sea (IJsselmeer now)

  • Irene Hoeve Clogs and Cheese Shop

    *only available on the long version of the tour* Visit the Irene Hoeve to learn more about the traditional way to make clogs and taste some of the best Dutch Cheese

  • Arrive 15 mins before the start of the tour at the meeting point! We will not wait longer than 5 minutes after the official starting time.
  • All participants must be able to ride a bike confidently on their own. Mike's Bike Tours will remove anyone from the tour who poses a danger to themselves or others, and no refund will be given.
  • Mike's Tours Amsterdam and/or its owner(s) are not liable for damages or injuries of any kind incurred by participants or by third parties during any of Mike's Tours Amsterdam's activities.
  • Lunch is not included. Feel free to pack a lunch and bring something to snack along the route or out at the cheese farm (long tour only) because while the farmer has cheese to eat the wooden shoes are not fun to nibble on unless you are a chipmunk.

Delightful Dutch Countryside

Fabulous tour!! Such a delight riding through the Dutch countryside, truly like a fairytale. Simon was a wonderful host and guide who looked after us well. Highly recommend gloves if you’re going on a cool day!

HIGHLY recommend doing this if you are in Amsterdam! First- it’s nice to get out of the city for a few hours. But the countryside is gorgeous, the E bikes are fun. The villages you go through have a rich history and it really is a spectacular tour. My preteen said this was his favorite activity in Amsterdam.

Rafael was a fabulous guide giving us history,scenery, and a fabulous bike ride. The cheese and clog farm was a wonderful addition to this experience. He even made time to stop for coffee and see a windmill. We were not rushed and he confirmed with the group if we went Lo fee would it be okay… we all agreed and I would do it again if I go back!

We enjoyed our excursion with Hew, an amazing guide. It was a chilly day and we were glad we wore layers to keep warm. The ride was easy and Hew was very informative. The stop at the clog and cheese factory was absolutely delightful! Purchased a modern pair of clogs instead of the colorful traditional style. The modern clog was well priced and is very comfortable.
