Overview

This unique private tour not only covers the major sights of ancient Budapest and modern Pest but also provides you with a first-hand experience of why locals love their city so much. By spending a leisurely day with us, you will experience and enjoy the city life with insights that no guidebook can provide. During this 8-hour tour, participants will have the opportunity to meet locals by using Budapest's excellent public-transportation system, including the first underground in continental Europe, and the city's unique river cruise service on the Danube. Throughout the day, we will make stops at wonderful terraces and cafés for coffee and meals, giving you an opportunity to discuss what you have seen and ask any questions about Hungary and its people. You also have the option to include a river boat journey with your guide, where you can enjoy and learn about the Hungarian capital from the unique perspective of the Danube.

This is a possible meeting place if you would prefer it to hotel pick-up.

  • Central Market Hall

The Great Market Hall or Central Market Hall (Hungarian "Nagyvásárcsarnok") is the largest and oldest indoor market in Budapest, Hungary. Two floors are covered with every imaginable type of food, including Hungarian specialities you won't find elsewhere. The Széchenyi Chain Bridge is a suspension bridge that spans the River Danube between Buda and Pest, the western and eastern sides of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Designed by the English engineer William Tierney Clark and built by the Scottish engineer Adam Clark, in 1849.

    15 minutes

  • Buda Castle

Castle Hill is a kilometre-long limestone plateau towering 170m above the Danube. It contains some of Budapest’s most important medieval monuments and museums and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Below it is a 28km-long network of caves formed by thermal springs. We will walk around the castle district taking in the Matthias Coronation Church, the Fishermen's Bastion - with its unrivalled views across the Danube to Pest - and the many noteworthy buildings in this special area.

The Hungarian Parliament Building (Hungarian: Országház, pronounced) , which translates to House of the Country or House of the Nation, also known as the Parliament of Budapest after its location, is the seat of the National Assembly of Hungary, a notable landmark of Hungary and a popular tourist destination in Budapest. We will walk around the outside of the building taking in the most important statues and discussing what makes this building unique.

This breathtaking building on Hold utca is one of the greatest examples of Secession artwork in the whole city. It was designed by famous secessionist artist Ödon Lechner in 1901. It is an extravaganza of colourful tiles and folk motifs.

  • St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika)

Andrássy Avenue is a boulevard in Budapest, Hungary, dating back to 1872. Lined with spectacular Neo-renaissance mansions and townhouses featuring fine facades and interiors, it was recognised as a World Heritage Site in 2002. It is also one of Budapest's main shopping streets, with fine cafes, restaurants, theatres, Embassies and luxury boutiques. We will walk along this impressive avenue, pointing out the many stunning buildings it houses - some which played an important historical role, some which had famous occupants, and some with dark secrets.

    45 minutes

  • Heroes' Square

Heroes' Square is one of the major squares in Budapest, Hungary, noted for its iconic statue complex featuring the Seven chieftains of the Magyars and other important Hungarian national leaders, as well as the Memorial Stone of Heroes, often erroneously referred as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We will look at these statues and also take in the impressive art galleries and other significant buildings round this square.

The first trees and planned walkways were established in 1751 , but the public park was only created in the first decades of the 19th century, when the present-day name, "Városliget" was accepted and it became one of the first public parks in the world. We will look at the beautiful skating rink/ boating lake overlooked by the Vajdahunyad Castle, as well as other buildings which make this area so visited by Hungarians and tourists alike.

Incredible!

Published on Nov, 2022

We had an amazing time with Miklos. He showed us the highlights of Budapest. Had a wealth of knowledge and made it for a great experience. I highly recommend Fungarian tour while in Budapest. It was the best!

Wonderful tour

Great tour! Very authentic view of the city with interesting historical facts and context all along the way. Miklos is a excellent guide who is local, knows all the ins and outs of the city, and made it a really unique experience. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Budapest who is looking for something personalized and not commercial.

Nice way to get a more comprehensive Overton the city

Daniel met me at the hotel promptly. His English very good, no problem at all. Very energetic young man and shows his love in his country unapologetically. I got insight from locals that would be impossible to understand from a guide book. I’d recommend them if you are in Budapest for the first time.

Fabulous

Highly recommend booking a tour with Miklós. He is absolutely amazing. Very funny, knowledgeable and kind. We had a whole day with him and he showed us some hidden secrets as well as engrossing us with Hungarian history. We shall book again Miklós, Koszonom, Guy and Francesca
