We did the wine tasting with 5 course meal and was looked after by the amazing Valentin! He was fun and taught us about the wines and made sure we were always topped up. The cruise was nice with entertainment from the band and dancers who engaged with the diners. The food was ok but not worth the money but overall an enjoyable experience.
The hike wasn’t really hard, took around 90 mins up and less than 60 downhill, but with short and few steep sections. The small forest zoo is not mentioned int he description of the tour although it is a memorable experince to meet a fox, a boar and some deers from up close. Beautiful animals! Everything was smooth, the guide is an expert, indeed.
The bobbsledding was in a surprisingly beautiful forest environtment and it was easy enough for the kids and satisfying for us as well. The view from the castle is truly hillarious, but I personally loved the crown the most. Thanks Zsolt for the smooth organizing and the insights to your people.
Marti's cooking class was an optional excursion on our Viking Danube river cruise. Debbie and I were the only takers out of 107 passengers. Our expectations were exceeded. We've taken 2 previous cooking classes on Viking Ocean cruises. We got much more out of this one, mainly because of Marti. It was so interesting to watch her work while she explained the ingredients and processes. She unabashedly talked about life in Hungary, growing up, and her family life. It gave us much to think about as we return to our relatively easy life in the States.
I thought this was something other than what it was. I thought this would be a guided site seeing tour with Hungarian music being played (there’s plenty between Liszt, Ligeti, and Bartok). Instead this was an open bar cruise with music from The Godfather and Fiddler on the Roof. There was no guide or tour and because the interior of the boat is so brightly lit it’s hard to see the actual sites. This was fun for what it was but it’s a tourist trap.
A fantastic way to get a tour of the main sights of Budapest with a really friendly and knowledgeable driver/guide. We were 2 mums with our teenage sons and we definitely scored some cool points with this! The jeep is great fun and actually as long as you can get in and out ok it’s really great if you would struggle with lots of walking to get around. The strudel was a delicious addition! Thank you John! Would recommend for groups of family/friends.
