Overview

Most tourists spend their time having bites at the touristy market of San Lorenzo. We take travelers to the real Florentine food market of Sant'Ambrogio, where locals have their daily shopping and fill up their bellies with some tasty and sometimes challenging bites! Your guide will explain seasonal recipes and give you insights into locals' daily life. You will have the chance to try food unavailable in restaurants and often not even mentioned in guidebooks. We offer whatever is local, seasonal and traditional. No tourist traps of any kind! We offer a comprehensive cultural city experience. We had a lovely food tour yesterday with Alice. For three hours, she took us up and down the streets of Florence, talking with such love and enthusiasm for the food and culture of the city. We stopped at numerous shops and enjoyed lots of little treats and some big ones as well. She was very friendly and so easy to talk to. It was easy to tell that she had been around the city quite a lot because she knew so many people as we were walking. The time we spent at the food market was a real treat and getting to see what and how the locals eat was really a wonderful experience. Whatever you do, make sure NOT to eat BEFORE this tour as the quantity and variety throughout is so plentiful. Alice did a super job and we would enjoy another tour with her anytime, for sure. Thanks so much, Alice.

We had the most wonderful morning with Alice on our Streaty food tour in Florence. Truly, I cannot say enough about this tour. Alice took us to spots and introduced us to food we never would have even known to try on our own and we loved every single stop. In addition to exploring the market and local foods, Alice provided historical and contemporary information about Florence and several additional local recommendations. By the end of the trip it felt like we had made a wonderful new friend as she was so genuine and happy. I would (and already have!) recommend this tour to my friends and family. This food tour was amazing. Not only was our guide Alice extremely knowledgeable but she was also super friendly and ready to answer any questions you had. The food was so delicious my husband and I plan on going back to a few of the places that we visited. You won’t regret it. One thing I love about food tours is you eat like a local and learn interesting details. I would've never known you dip biscotti in sweet wine as an aperitif. I thought you only had them for breakfast w/ coffee. Who would’ve thought, the perks of doing these tours with knowledge people. Thanks!!
