  • Catedral De Sal De Zipaquira

    We will begin our adventure in the majestic Cathedral of Salt of Zipaquirá. Built inside a former salt mine, this underground cathedral is a masterpiece of religious architecture and a symbol of the Catholic faith. We will tour its different seasons and tell you the story of its construction.

  • Museo de la Sal

    Before entering the cathedral, we will visit the Salt Museum, where we will learn about the salt extraction process and its importance in the economy of the region. We can see old tools and objects made of salt.

    After visiting the cathedral, we will enjoy a walk through the main square of Zipaquirá. We will admire the colonial architecture of its buildings and can taste some local products.

  • Laguna de Guatavita

    Our next stop will be the Laguna de Guatavita, a sacred place for the muiscas and birthplace of the legend of El Dorado. We will hike the trails surrounding the lagoon and enjoy the breathtaking views.

Jam packed day, but so worth it

Joined in by myself on this group tour and I felt safe and well taken care of. Camilo was an amazing tour guide. He was able to keep our diverse group (Brazil, France, Mexico, U.S.) informed thoughout the tour. Our two long activities, Guatavita Lake and the salt cathedral, were sandwiched in between food and culture stops, so it didn’t feel so long. To get to the lake you have to hike quite a ways and it was tiring, so be ready. Lots more walking at the cathedral. All worth it! Thoroughly recommend this excursion if you have a whole day to spare. And Nestor, our driver, kept us safe even in the rain.

Long, good and informative day. Beautiful lagoon hike and legend of El Dorado. The Salt Cathedral was moving. Lunch surprisingly very good! Diego is an excellent guide- he managed all the details, and the group was fun.

Mili my tour guide was awesome. She has such great energy,. She took the time to explain everything in Spanish and English. I would recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Bogota. Especially English speakers.

Great way to see sites outside of Bogota

We loved this tour! It was great to spend a day outside of the city after seeing a lot of the urban sites. Camilo was a wonderful guide and taught us so much about what we were seeing, as well as lots of other interesting information about Colombia. It’s a long day, but well worth it.
