Overview

Choose to relive the history of the elegant city of Herculaneum with our expert guide! Here you will admire ancient artifacts from over 2000 years ago almost intact, which differentiate this site from Pompeii, making it a unique and unmissable experience! The tour begins with an overall panoramic view of the entire archaeological park. We will pass through a tunnel dug in about 20/25 meters of volcanic materials to reach the ancient beach of Herculaneum, where about 300 people on the run found death and whose skeletons we see today. Upon entering the city, everything will be a step back into the past, among refined details of Roman houses, shops and spas.

Meeting points

We will meet our customers at the ticket office of the Herculaneum Archaeological Park, our guide will be holding a sign with the visitor's name and surname. For travelers who reach the site with the Circumvesuviana train, it is sufficient to go downhill to the end of via 4 Novembre

  • Parco Acheologico di Ercolano

    Despite the centuries-old history, therefore, the excavations have brought to light only a part of the ancient city, so that much of the ancient Herculaneum is still buried underground, preserving, among other things, the entire forensic area, the sacred and civil buildings with their precious furnishings and decorative apparatuses. Currently most of the archaeological park that can be visited consists, with the exception of the thermal baths and the gym, of private houses of the imperial age, characterized by a large typological variety: houses with a traditional layout, multi-family houses, large residences that develop part of their neighborhoods in dominant position on the sea and straddling the walls.     The typical Roman thermal system of Herculaneum is very well preserved and allows us to see the gym, the changing room and the rooms intended for warm and warm baths.

Carmine is a great guide. He does an excellent job explaining Herculaneum and contrasting it with Pompeii. He is friendly, well spoken, and personable. He was also very helpful coordinating with the driver we had arranged for pickup after the tour. Thanks!

We loved our tour of the Herculaneum! Our tour guide, Annalisa made everything extremely interesting - skipping the mundane things and focusing on the places she knew we would find more exciting. She was very informative, super nice, and extremely patient with us and all our questions. lol We all had a great time! Highly recommend this tour.

Francesca was our guide for this tour. She was very well versed in the history of the Herculaneum. She also spoke English very well which was a big plus. Would recommend her any time.

--We only had one day, so chose Herculaneum over Pompeii and we were glad we did! --For transportation to the site: it was easy to take a taxi from Napoli to the site and the taxi driver gave us his number, so we could call him when we were ready to return. He was very nice and professional and a very safe driver. Our tour guide stayed with us until he was sure we had transportation back, which was very appreciated --The site takes a couple of hours to tour; the tour guide did a very nice job of showing us the area while providing lots of interesting information. The site is well-excavated. There is a tiny museum as well that we quickly strolled through, which was interesting. --There were a couple of bathrooms that did not require tipping, but bring your own toilet paper. --Our guide was super enthusiastic and knowledgable, which made the whole experience wonderful. This was one of the best tours of our trip.
