Overview

A Private Tour of Herculaneum to visit the archaeological site. There will be no other guides besides me and you are guaranteed to be with an archaeological guide. After the experience, you can stay on the site until closing and continue exploring the beauties with the advice I will give you.

Meeting points

Meeting point is near to the ticket office located inside the excavations of Herculaneum. After passing through the entrance arch, walk to the only official ticket office in the excavations. I will wear a red badge and a sign "Eliana Sandretti"

Itinerary

  • Parco Acheologico di Ercolano

    Meeting point: ticket office of the archaeological site of Herculaneum, it will be possible to buy the entrance tickets (if you haven't bought in advanced or if you haven't purchased online). The entrance ticket to the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum will give you the opportunity to see all the attractions and houses present during the tour. The guide will be waiting for you with a sign to be recognized: "Eliana Sandretti".

  • La Terrazza di M. Nonio Balbo

    We will see the skeletons of people who died during the eruption and we will look out on the terrace to imagine the panorama before the great explosion of Vesuvius.

    La Casa dei Cervi is a luxurious house with a terrace overlooking the sea.

  • Casa del Rilievo di Telefo (Pass By)

    The name of the domus is due to a high relief where the myth of Telephus was illustrated.

  • Partem Domus lignea - Casa del Tramezzo di Legno

    The Casa del Tramezzo di Legno is named after the discovery of a wooden partition that was charred due to the eruption of Vesuvius.

    The house of the Black Room owes its name to its salon painted in black. It is one of the most luxurious domus in Herculaneum.

    We will see the boat charred by the eruption of Vesuvius and recently discovered.

    The College of the Augustales preserves the frescoes representing Hercules entering Olympus. In this room the skeleton of the keeper who died during the eruption.

History brought back to life in Herculaneum settlement

My most favorite tour yet! Eliana took us through the events before, during and after the pyroclastic explosion of volcanic activity of Mt Vesuvius. The carbonized and later restored wooden beams in architecturally preserved buildings in the Herculaneum settlement was phenomenal. The care and detail of this passionate archeologist was apparent. Eilana, thank you for a living-history tour. l

This was a great experience. Our archeologist, Francesco, was extremely knowledgable and answered every question we had. He kept a great pace even with the heat and my father who was difficulty with stairs. We would recommend this to anyone. We enjoyed this more than our trip to Pompei.
