Rizwan, our guide was incredibly knowledgable, had great storytelling, and was very engaging. I really liked that KHAKI also partnered with a local guide for this tour. Our guide, Sagar, was fantastic. He was also very knowledgable, and very open and affable. I highly recommend KHAKI to anyone visiting Mumbai and interested in exploring the city. Next time I’m there, I definitely plan on doing another tour!

Forget any of your ideas about slums. This tour shows you a vibrant and hard working community. Whether it’s plastics, leather, fabric, or cotton (the main industries), you get a window into the different businesses. The first part is walking through the area of business, the second half is through the main living areas. Our guides were excellent; one had grown up and been educated in the slum. This is an educational tour. One note - you will be walking through narrow passages and definitely not handicapped accessible/friendly.

I had heard so much about Dharavi, and it is such a big part of our collective imagination of Bombay/Mumbai. The tour was up to the challenge and did an excellent job in showing the varied ways in which the people of Dharavi live and work. It is a complex multi-layered place-- not without it's challenges but also full of life, and rich with stories and history..Our guide Sultan was very knowledgeable, and he was accompanied by a local host Rahul, who lives in Dharavi. Rahul was upbeat with a deep expertise on the place, and a genuine commitment to the well-being of its people. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone interested in the life ways of people living in the dynamic urban setting that is one of the world's biggest informal settlements.

While I started off very hesitant to sign up for this tour, I am glad that I went for it. The trip gives you an insight into the hustle and bustle of Dharavi, shared through the lens of individuals who grew up there, know every inch of the place and are passionate about their community. The trip focusses on how the businesses in Dharavi contribute to reducing the waste generated by different businesses and brands such as plastic or even single use soaps from the hospitality sector. The trip provides perspective on how diverse communities can co-exist and thrive, even while encountering certain hardships. Highly recommend this trip to anyone who has a pre-conceived notion of Dharavi courtesy, what is showcased in media.

The entire trip was handled very professionally using maps, a history of the place, local economy, life & living and an overview of the planned redevelopment of Dharavi. Sultan - our guide from Khaki tours and Kamlesh our local tour guide were very competent and knowledgeable.
