Overview

Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius are the undisputed protagonists of the 79 AD eruption. Get to know more about it with this incredible full day experience. You will visit Pompeii in a small group tour led by an Archaeologist guide who will show you the best highlights of the site like the Forum – the main square of the city –, the main houses and buildings. Then meet the hiking guide in the afternoon and leave with our minibus for up to 14 people with direction to Mount Vesuvius. As arrive at Vesuvius entrance first 30 minutes up to the crater there's a steep walking to reach the top. Hike the volcano and reach the top of it: look inside the still quiescent crater and wonder at the amazing landscape around you and the beautiful panorama overlooking the Bay of Naples. At the end of the excursion be brought back to Pompeii where the tour began.

Meeting points

The meeting point is the main entrance of Pompeii ruins called "Porta Marina Superiore" opposite to a restaurant called 'Hortus Bar and Restaurant'. Please google it on maps for easier navigation.

    Meet the guide at the main entrance of the archaeological site called "Porta Marina Superiore". The guide will be holding a sign with our company's name "Askos Tours" on the top.

  • Vesuvius National Park

    Transfer to Mt. Vesuvius. Get on the top of the volcano to see the crater that still smokes slightly. Besides that, you will have a stunning panorama of the Bay of Naples, Capri, Ischia, the edge of the Sorrento coast and more. The last 500m is a very steep uphill walk, and closed-in shoes are essential. At the end of the visit, back to the main entrance of Pompeii Ruins, called Porta Marina Superiore.

POMPEI - Giancarlo was really great with your kids attending to their questions and was very patient VESUVUIS - Mario was great and attentive making sure the tour was great and enjoyable for kids as young as 7 and pensioners. He made the tour fun and answered all of our questions.

The tour guide for both Pompeii and Vesuvius were really friendly and knowledgeable. Both are stunning to see. Warning - the meeting place is not so easy to find from the train station. Allow yourself half an hour at the minimum

Great experience of Pompeii

Despite the weather (heavy rain) we had a memorable and very informative trip to Pompeii. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and a great communicator. Unfortunately, the Vesuvius tour had to be cancelled because of the weather, they closed the park, but we were offered an alternative or partial refund as we had booked Pompeii and Vesuvius together. Excellent communication from the company and would highly recommend.

Mario was a great guide during the trek up to Mount Vesuvius, very knowledgeable and took the time to get to know you and provided great recommendations for places to visit in Naples. The Pompeii tour and guide was also great. I learned alot on both excursions - I highly recommend it.
