Our guide Mario was the most knowledgeable guide I’ve met. We did the full day curi-cancha, cloud forest and nighttime tour with him. His 15 years of experience was evident in the way he observed and found traces of insect and animal life. I learned a lot on this tour: about the animals, the flora (I love plants), and also about the humbling unpredictability of nature.
It’s important you don’t expect that you’ll see an animal every 20 ft. You must be patient and accepting of the time and energy it takes to spot the wildlife, and that you may not spot what you intend, but this was all the more rewarding for us. Whenever we did spot wonderful wildlife like monkeys, sloths, snakes and toucans - the moment was exhilarating!
