Awesome experience with very knowledgeable guides (Fabiola and Brainer). We learnt about the species, the ecosystem but also got to know a bit better the local indigenous culture. Fascinating. We felt very privileged to be there and to discover this more hidden side of Costa Rica. Thank you both so much Fabiola and Brainer for your time, expertise and care, and also for the delicious fruits and drinks.
The only reason I gave this a 1 star review is because I didn't go on the trip. I signed up for it through TripAdvisor and never received a confirmation. TripAdvisor canceled the reservation, because it was never confirmed. I was disappointed. This was one of the things I was looking forward to on my trip.
We had an amazing time picking coffee cherries, visiting the waterfall & learning so much about the coffee making process. Andrew was a great guide answering all our questions and explaining everything with a lot of energy, fun and humor. We will definitely be coming back to stay at La Esperanza and enjoy more time on the farm.
We enjoyed our time but there were some things that could use improvement. I would have liked to have gone deeper in the jungle and I thought that there was a lot of talking about really minor things (like insects) instead of walking and seeing monkeys .... As well, we got caught in a mixed group of Spanish and English, so everything seemed to take twice as long as it should have. The organization was great. The folks were kind and great. The boat ride was a highlight. We also did see spider monkeys, Scarlet macaws, dolphins, and a few other birds.
We had such a great time on this tour! All of the 506 staff were incredibly friendly, and thoughtful. We did the ATV tour with a jet ski ride at the beach, and it was awesome! We got a ride to and from our accommodations, and they provided fresh, cold pineapple at the end of the tour, so good!
This tour exceeded our expectations from organizers JJ and Anni to our fantastic tour guide Jose and driver Manuel! Since there were 5 of us, we arranged for a private van and Jose tailored the day based on what we were interested in seeing. They were experts at spotting sloths and toucans in trees along the road and we pulled over many times to view and photograph the wildlife. Our tour of the organic chocolate and coffee farm in Bijagua de Upala was expert led by Brenden who was very knowledgeable and guided us through a hands on tour of growing, harvesting and serving cacao, coffee, sugar cane and pineapple. The taste testing was terrific. Our day included lunch in an open air restaurant overlooking Tenorio Volcano. I can't say enough good things about our experience on this tour! In fact, our day was so great that we requested Jose and Manuel for a second day tour of birding and the Palo Verde River Cruise (reviewed separately).
From start to finish this was a wonderful trip! We got to see so many different creatures! Samuel was our guide and had eagle eyes to spot all of the amazing birds, reptiles, and we even got to see a crocodile! One of the best tours we’ve ever been on! Thank you, Bernie for leading a great crew, we always felt safe and had the best time! God Bless!
This 2 day trip was spectacular. The scenery is the most beautiful you will encounter in Costa Rica! Our guides Ivan and Enrique treated us like family! They are amazing chefs and want to ensure you are having the time of your life. If you want a once in a life time experience, BOOK THEM !
