Overview

Did you know Madrid is the greenest capital in Europe? For 3 hours you will discover the Parque del Oeste, the Manzanares River, and Casa de Campo - one of the largest public parks in the world - all on cycling paths. Our guides will talk you through the parks’ history, from the beginnings as royal hunting grounds, to its use as a front line during the Spanish Civil War. You’ll also visit the resting place of a legendary Spanish artist and see an impressive chapel with frescoes painted by him. This tour is also great for kids as it doesn’t cross the city centre or use busy streets. Includes: - Bike rental with handlebar bag for storing personal items, helmet - English-speaking bilingual guide who will take pictures of you along the way so you don’t have to fuss with your camera* *the pictures are for your personal use only, and will not be used by us in any manner

Departure Point: Centrally located bike premises within 3 minutes walk off the Plaza de España on the northwestern side. You can access the location via the Plaza de España metro stop, metro lines 10 and 3.

  • Royal Palace of Madrid

    We cycle along the east side of the Royal Palace to the Opera house enjoying a great view of the east side of the palace and from there ride to it's main entrance. The view from the court yard to the nearby mountains is spectacular.

    We cycle slowly down to the riverside of the Manzanares river but before we stop at the royal garden Campo del Moro where you get an impressive view of the west side of the Palace. Short walk into the garden.

  • Matadero Madrid

    We ride along the river Manzanares on a newly built lane south to the Matadero fromer abattoir of Madrid. Now it's a cultural meeting point. It takes us about half an hour t get there by bike. We have the possibility to visit cristal palace there having enough time to visit the green house.

  • Puente de Segovia (Pass By)

    O our way back along the river towards the Casa de Campo parkland the oldest bridge crossing river Manzanares shows up. From there, we son enter the biggest public parkland called Casa de Campo, a former hunting ground of the Spanish kings.

  • Lago Casa de Campo

    Once we have entered the park, we are cycling to the lake (lago in Spanish) where clients can take photos of the cityline.

  • Ermita De San Antonio De La Florida

    On our way back we stop at the chapel of Sait Anton where the Spnish painter Goya is burried. He also painted in 1798 the ceiling of the chapel in less than 5 months, a real treasure.

  • Templo de Debod

    From the chapel of San Antonio we cycle the last strech uphill through the West park gently climbing back to the Egyptian Templo de Debod taking some pictures.

Excellent bike tour of Madrid’s greenways.

Alvaro is a top notch bike tour guide. Very tuned into the diverse needs and skill levels of a multi-age nine person family group. Very knowledgeable on safe bike routes as a Madrid native. Bikes and helmets were in good repair. Also excellent deep knowledge of relevant art, history, urban development, politics, etc. Overall top notch and highly recommended!! We liked it so much we did a second tour with Alvaro!!

Nice experience off the tourists beaten tracks

We enjoyed our tour in the parks in the morning. The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. As Madrid is not flat we first went downhill to the river and on the way back we had to climb but it wasn't very difficult. However I would recommend e-bikes for the ones that are not used to this.

Excellent tour of the city sights with great commentary from a charismatic, funny and very knowledgeable guide. I especially loved the tour around Casa de Campo. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Madrid! Thanks Alvaro!

It was a fabulous tour with Sergio, who adapted the ride to meet the interests and abilities of the small group. We saw many beautiful and interesting sites across Madrid’s Parks and Riverways. Highly recommended!

Extremely interesting guide

I went with my two daughters (21&22). We all loved this tour. Our guide was an historian- so knowledgeable and interesting. We saw parts of Madrid that were new to us (I’ve been there 3x but always find new places!). It was the perfect mix of biking and stopping to hear cool things about the city. The tour lasted 3 hours.
