Overview

On this tour you will explore the history of one of the last decisive battles of World War II, the Battle of the Bulge. The day will start with a visit of the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, the burial place of the US soldiers who died in the battle. General Patton was also buried there at his request. The tour then takes you to the General Patton Memorial Museum in Ettelbruck, the city Patton and his Third Army liberated on Christmas Day in 1944. The museum is a trove of historical exhibits and objects related to the battle and to Patton’s life. Further north you will then visit the « Schumanseck Remembrance Trail ». This trail leads in the footsteps of a decisive encounter during the Battle of the Bulge. Then the tour will continue to the site of the old Diekirch brewery where the National Museum of Military History is located at. This museum is considered one of the best for World War II knowledge. At the end of the day, you will be returned to your hotel.

    After pick-up at your hotel the driver/guide will bring you to the General Patton Memorial and the Museum in Ettelbruck, the city Patton's Third Army liberated on Christmas Day in 1944. The museum is a trove of historical exhibits and objects related to the battle and to Patton’s life.

    Further north, at the site of the old Diekirch brewery, is the National Museum of Military History, considered one of the best for World War II knowledge.

    The tour then takes you to the very north of Luxembourg to the Clervaux castle, where you’ll visit the Battle of the Bulge museum.

Cold day in the Ardennes forest

Educational. Prepare to see a lot of memorials and wreckage from WW2. We could relate to soldiers freezing on Christmas morning. Ken was a fine and knowledgeable guide.
