Campanile di Giotto (Pass By)
Admire a free-standing campanile that is part of the complex of buildings that make up Florence Cathedral.
The unusual position of the bell tower, aligned with the facade, reflects the desire to give it great importance as a sign of strong verticality at the center of the Insula Episcopalis, as well as probably the practical need to free the view of the apse area for the large dome, foreseen since Arnolfian project. Giotto provided an original design for the bell tower, with a pyramidal cusp termination 50 Florentine arms high (about 40 metres), according to which the total elevation should have been approximately 120-125 metres. A drawing preserved in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Siena is considered by some scholars to be inspired by this project.

Chronologically, with a few exceptions, the paintings mainly cover the 16th and 17th centuries, making it one of the most important museums of its kind in Italy, as well as an obligatory stop for learning about the history of European collecting.

We had an amazing experience with this transfer from Livorno to Florence! From start to finish, our host, Mattia, was fantastic—very communicative and punctual, which made the trip stress-free and enjoyable. Mattia's personality added a lot to the journey, making us feel welcomed and entertained along the way. A huge bonus was the surprise return directly back to our cruise ship, saving us the extra hassle of returning to the Livorno stop. We only wish we had more time to explore Florence! Highly recommend this service for anyone looking for a seamless, enjoyable transfer experience.
