Meet your guide and stop in one of the many cafeterias of Livorno for a grait cappuccino or espresso coffee discussing about this Italian morning ritual. Start your guided tour admiring the amazing fortress built under the Medici dinasty during the sixteen century and visiting the characteristic street Via Madonna, symbol of the multicultural origins of this unique city and important testimony of peaceful coexistence among communities. As you continue to your next food stop, listen at your passionate guide illustrating stories and curiosities of Livorno and immerse yourself in local culture. Pass through the lively outdoor Fruit and Vegetable Market, get a taste of Livornese life and follow the inviting smell of traditional delights. Try the local authentic street food such us frate and scagliozzi and learn about its interesting history. Then proceed to the the historic Central Market - Mercato delle Vettovaglie, an impressive building designed in the 19th century and one of the biggest covered market in Europe. Enjoy the happy chaos of the vendors, lose yourself in the overwhelming smells of this beautiful place and discover authentic products that reflect Livorno's multicultural past. Are you ready for a deliciuos bruschetta with extravirgin oil and a glass of tuscan wine? Well here we go! You will then walk over to the fish market where your guide will explain the differences between the various types of local seafood. Continue your gastronomic adventure in a typical Torteria, where many local people go for their lunch break. Taste a specialty known as torta di ceci, a kind of pancake made from chick peas and traditionally served in bread with a glass of spuma. Its curious name referring to the original value, 5 cents of cake and 5 cents of bread. End your cultural food tour with a must in culinary tradition of the city. Stop in a bar and try the real ponce alla livornese, a legendary local drink made with coffee and rum. Apparently adapted from traditions taken from the Anglo-Saxon population of Livorno, it expresses the energy and passion of local people. The itinerary includes 8 tastings, we suggest you to have a light breakfast before the tour. Vegetarian option available, please advise at moment of booking.

Awesome experience in Livorno

Laila was the best guise we’ve had on this trip - by far. Our ship was late docking - we contacted her and she came to the port to pick us up. She was engaging, knowledgeable and friedly. We had a great time on our tour, ate and drink some delicious stuff, and by the end we felt like friends and that we had a glimpse into local life. I would recommend this tour anytime.
