During this tour, you will travel in a taxi to explore Kochi's most important landmarks like Chinese fishing nets , St Francis church, the Dutch Palace, Jewish synagogue, the Jain temple and more. And also some local places like Dhobhi Khana(Local Washing area), Ginger ware house(packing/drying of spices), and womens cooperatives spice markets, (spice making/ candle making, inscents making etc) to experience the life of local people. This tour includes monument entrance fees.

Chinese Fishing Nets

Chinese fishing nets (Cheena vala) are a type of stationary lift net in India. They are fishing nets that are fixed land installations for fishing. While commonly known as "Chinese fishing nets" in India, the more formal name for such nets is "shore operated lift nets". Huge mechanical contrivances hold out horizontal nets of 20 m or more across. Each structure is at least 10 m high and comprises a cantilever with an outstretched net suspended over the sea and large stones suspended from ropes as counterweights at the other end. Each installation is operated by a team of up to six fishermen.

Great tour - easy way to see Kochi’s delights

Had an excellent day tour around Fort Kochi with so much packed into the itinerary. My driver and guide, Joby, was friendly and flexible with tailoring the tour to what I wanted to see. With the various visits, you really get a feel for the many layers of Kochi’s history, as well as present day Kochi. After the planned itinerary, he kindly took me around the port area to show the modern industry in the city and he made an excellent lunch suggestion with the biriyani restaurant! I had a really good day.

We enjoyed a full day tour of Kochi City. Our driver, Joseph made the tour even more pleasant with his humble and joyful personality. He made sure we enjoy our trip with all comfort and ease. He stopped at various local boutiques so we could have a nice shopping experience in Kochi. We highly recommend Joseph as he is an excellent guide and driver who can be entirely trusted.

Mr Sudheer is a great driver and tour guide. He has a great personality too. He is a very hospitable person. He took me to all the places that I wanted to visit as listed on the tour itinerary for the tour of Kochi city. He also took me where I could enjoy great tea and local food at lunchtime. It was a memorable and wonderful trip and tour. I will highly recommend Mr Sudheer on your visit to Kerala in the future.
