Overview

You might have the chance to meet Master Taku himself in the 11 o'clock class. Enjoy the art of recreating broken pottery into your one and only masterpiece. Take home with you the story you made in Japan. Kintsugi is a delicate technique; you are NOT allowed to bring any personal ceramic pieces to this course. You will use the plates prepared for beginners by the studio. In 2024, Master Taku is awarded with the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon, the honorable commendation given to individuals who have made significant achievements in the fields of science, art, invention, improvement, and creation this year. Not only his talents as an artist, but also the fact that he dedicates a portion of profit to the charity was the big reason for winning this award. Thus, joining and enjoying his workshop, you will paying back to the society!

Itinerary

You might have the chance to meet Master TAKU himself in the 11 o'clock class! Learn Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with gold, during this 60-minute lesson. Use this technique to repair pottery while delving into this beautiful Japanese traditional craft. Get a unique perspective of the culture of Japan and learn the Japanese view of objects: that objects are meant to be broken and repaired, not thrown out. Bring home a unique souvenir when the 1-hour lesson is over. Kintsugi is a delicate technique; you are NOT allowed to bring any personal ceramic pieces to this course. You will use the plates prepared for beginners by the studio. Kintsugi is done with chemical resin and ornamental gold powder. The process is the same as traditional Kintsugi material is not natural No lacquer rash. You can experience it safely in a short time Cannot be used for eating and drinking

A+++ experience! Loved it. Instructor is a master in his craft and in his teaching abilities. He made everyone feel welcome and was a great coach. The workshop is hands-on and the process is explained well. We left with a lovely momento of our trip, along with a desire to further explore this art form. Well done. PS check online for this specific course on other platforms to save a bit of money. Either way, it's well worth it. Book it!

fun experience i liked the explanations behind everything like the purpose of the cracked pottery. it was really hard to find this place though, we got lost because there was an address that was the same as the place we were trying to go to.

Incredible experience! It is wonderful for anyone and everyone. Whether you have history with art or this is the first experience with art, this is a must do. It was fun diving into the culture of Kintsugi and walking away with a beautiful keepsake. Thank you, Taku Nakano for teaching us your passion and walking us through every step of the process.

I didn't know what to expect but this was incredible. It was insightful, educational and fun. I loved learning about this form of pottery fixing. It was incredible a different something we haven't stopped talking about how much we enjoyed the experience.

My husband and I took this class while visiting Tokyo. We found it to be a great experience. We learned a lot about this art form and enjoyed the collaboration between students and teacher. We were also happy to take home our creations. We recommend taking this class.
