Overview

Experience this guided half-day cultural tour, starts in District Six with an introduction to the townships and the damage of apartheid policies, visit several of the townships starting with Langa, the oldest and smallest township where you will see various cultural and historical sites. Visit a local pre-school where you will spend time with local children who are full of energy and fun, you will also visit with a traditional healer and go on a walking tour to a shebeen (local pub) and maybe taste local beer. Enjoy the small group tour on an air-conditioned transport, which remains personal and intimate, there are plenty of opportunities to ask questions and engage with local members of the communities. Choose from one of 2 departure times when you book, if you choose the Robben Island tour extension, your guide will drop you off at Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V and A Waterfront where your trip to Robben Island departs.

    Find out how the Group Areas policy of the apartheid goverment changed the fabric of the city center. The museum pays homage to the forced removals in the 1960's

    On our tour you will introduced to different parts of the city where you will be exposed to many cultures of Cape .

  • Robben Island Museum

    Option: See where Nelson Mandela spent most of his time in prison. The island has much history dating back 500 years.

Great experience!

Wonderful guide and driver great information very informative really got to understand the community and the people. It was very nice to visit the daycare. I wish I had known ahead of time how many children would be there brought little small gifts for them probably didn’t have enough. The daycare we visited had approximately 80 children, I messaged the tour operator several times prior to our trip asking how many children and never got a response so I felt bad not having enough for each child . Trip price was worth what paid .

This was a morning long tour of a Townhip which gave a very informative overview of the development of townships, the protests during apartheid and current types of house in and living conditions. The tour guide was excellent.

My wife and I really enjoyed our half day tour with Sam and his colleague who took us round the Langa township. The tour gave a real insight into the continuing inequalities and challenges facing South Africa.
