Explorer Tours offers small group tours where we operate our private luxury vehicle with a max capacity of 12 guests. Our tour conductor accompanies our guests to every destination, offering insight of each amazing spot you visit. Our tour conductors spend time with each passengers, giving everyone equal opportunity to ask questions and help take pictures with. Enjoy a stroll in Arashiyama surrounded by nature. Walk inside the historic Ninna-ji Temple Palace, and see the craftsmanship of each building. Experience the tall bamboos of the bamboo grove, and bask in the beauty of the Kinkakuji Temple accompanied by our team. Our tour conductors and drivers are licensed and trained professionally, so you are sure to be taken care of during your tour. Join us on one of our tours, and be taken care of by our professional staff.

Itinerary

  • Osaka

    Meet your tour conductor either in Shinsaibashi or Umeda DT Tower, and board our comfortable, luxurious private vehicle and travel 1.2hrs from Osaka to Arashiyama, Kyoto.

  • Tenryu-ji Temple

    Before entering Tenryuji, your tour conductor will hand you an entry ticket. Once inside the temple grounds, your tour conductor will walk you around the grounds and show you points of interest and share with you the history of Tenryuji, and its historical importance.

  • Arashiyama Bamboo Forest

    After leaving Tenryuji Temple, follow your tour conductor on foot toward Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. Enjoy a walk through the tranquil and beautiful Bamboo forest and relax with the sounds of nature and ray of light peering through the tall branches of the bamboos.

  • Arashiyama

    Arashiyama Town area is where you will have your free-time and lunch break. Walk around the area and visit souvenir stores that offer trinkets, fans, or incense, to traditional hand made products such has had drawn folding fans, and chopsticks. Enjoy your lunch in one of the local restaurants, or grab a coffee at the near-by cafe and enjoy the nature and fresh air.

  • Ninna-ji Temple

    After lunch, meet your tour conductor and make your way to Ninna-ji Temple on board our private vehicle. Once at Ninna-ji Temple, enter the great Nio gates of Ninna-ji and proceed to the palace of Ninna-ji Temple. Your tour conductor will show guide you through the palace structure and beautiful garden.

  • Kinkakuji Temple

    After leaving Ninna-ji temple, head towards Kinkakuji Temple, also known as The Golden Pavilion. Once at Kinkakuji Temple, walk around the temple grounds and towards the front of the Golden Pavilion. You will be shown the garden area of the temple grounds, and your tour conductor will share information about the importance of this iconic temple and structure.

  • Osaka

    After Kinkakuji Temple, board our private vehicle and make your way back to Osaka. You can ask follow up questions, or advice in Osaka from your tour conductor. Please specify your drop-off point to your tour conductor.

Our guide Andy was terrific. Great tour.the shrines were beautiful and the gardens around them too. The drive between Osaka and Kyoto is long but still nice

Andy was a great tour guide. Very informative led us to some really good photo spots and places to go for lunch. Good for those who want a brief tour in Kyoto.

We thought about doing this tour ourselves but glad we went on this tour instead, Taka and the driver, Mr "M", were fantastic taking us around and explaining the history and answering any questions we had whether tour related, Japan related etc. Both were perfect gentlemen with lots of local and historical knowledge. Really enjoyed the day and thoroughly reccomend this tour. Thankyou.

While we had visited temples solo in Tokyo, Akira’s knowledge & insights into the history of these beautiful places made our tours forever memorable. To learn the history behind the temples & statues, rather than simply admire the beauty was an invaluable experience. If you are considering these tours, don’t delay. It’s absolutely worth it! We will be sure to book again when we are able to next return to Japan!
