Today we were picked up from our hotel, perfectly on time, by our driver Gordon. We then enjoyed the drive to Black River, with regular commentary from Gordon on the areas we were passing through, buildings of interest etc.
Once at the Black River safari, we boarded our boat and set off down the river. The guide on the boat was extremely knowledgeable about the area and wildlife, explaining in detail about the section of river we were travelling down. He spots crocodiles under the trees and skilfully manoeuvres the boat so close that they are within touching distance, an amazing experience! We also saw many birds, including an Osprey.
Next stop was the beautiful YS Falls, a fairly short drive from Black River, which Gordon made a pleasure with further commentary and willingness to answer all the questions we had.
Our daughters enjoyed the waterfalls and rope swings at the falls, our lifeguard guide was great, leading them across the rocks to ensure they didn’t slip and taking photos and videos of them using one of our phones.
We then had the return journey to our hotel near Negril, again this was made a breeze by Gordon, despite some “interesting” driving from other road users, all part of the fun learning about driving in other countries. We even got to taste some spicy shrimp from a roadside seller.
We wouldn’t hesitate to rebook with Aloha and would be very happy to have Gordon as our driver again. Thanks!
