  • Evora District (Pass By)

    A few facts about the town of Évora: it has 55,000 inhabitants; it is more than 2,000 years old; and it is under the designation of UNESCO. Within the walls of the wonderfully preserved town center are ancient Roman temples, medieval cathedrals, and narrow cobblestoned streets.

  • Evora

    Begin your day trip with a pickup from your central Lisbon hotel, and then hop inside a comfortable minivan with your private guide. During the hour-long drive, gaze out at the Portuguese countryside and learn about the history and culture of the places you’re about to visit.

  • Templo Romano de Evora (Templo de Diana)

    Start by visiting the Temple of Diana, the famed Roman temple that was dedicated to Augustus, emperor of Rome, and learn the changes it suffered through time.

  • Cathedral of Evora (Se Catedral de Evora)

    Visit the grand Gothic Cathedral, built in the 12th century, and the medieval cloisters. Climb to the roof of the building to get a great view of the town and the surrounding countryside.

  • Chapel of Bones

    Check out the Chapel of Bones (Capela dos Ossos) inside the Church of St Francis. As the name suggests, the mysterious chapel is made up of human bones.

    Enjoy some free time to explore the streets and city center of Évora, and have lunch in the excellent restaurants available.

  • Centro Interpretativo dos Almendres

    Make your final stop of the tour at the Almendres Cromlech, a Neolithic stone circle, which is aligned with the Summer Solstice. Wander around the ancient circle, said to be the largest existing group of structured menhirs in the Iberian Peninsula, and hear how the stones were likely used for sacred rituals.

    Return to Lisbon crossing the iconic 25th April Bridge, from where you can see the most amazing vies over Lisbon.

Trip to Evora and megaliths

We really enjoyed the tour. We learned a lot about the region and had opportunities for great photos. We even went to see a few “hidden gems” which really added to the trip. It was a day well spent!

Best tour in Portugal!

This was the best tour I had in Portugal! The bone chapel was amazing! The megalithic site was also very interesting. The guide (João) was super friendly and very knowledgeable. He suggested a terrific Portuguese restaurant for lunch. I highly recommend!

Great experience of Evora !

Our trip to Évora, Portugal, was a perfect mix of stunning scenery, and fascinating history. We began by marveling at the breathtaking views of the countryside, learning about the region’s famous cork trees. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the ancient monoliths! However, the Chapel of Bones was truly extraordinary. It was both haunting and beautiful, a reminder of Évora’s deep historical roots. We also had a great lunch from a good local restaurant, with authentic Portuguese menu, with huge servings but reasonable price. Our guide, João, was phenomenal! He was incredibly knowledgeable and kind.

My wife and I had the pleasure of going on a tour with Juno, and it was an outstanding experience. Juno did a fantastic job guiding our small group of five, offering a wealth of knowledge about Evora, and sharing interesting insights about the history and Cocks oak trees throughout the entire trip. The tour was well-organized, and we never felt rushed or lost. Juno’s attention to detail and thoughtful approach made the experience both informative and enjoyable. I highly recommend Juno as a guide – his passion and professionalism truly enhanced the whole journey!

Worth exploring!

Our guide Diogo - Tony - was very informative and added to the whole experience. We covered a lot of ground and saw many sites outside of Lisbon including interesting landmarks, the standing stones, cork trees, the market at Evora, church of bones, and a cork factory. I was pleasantly surprised by the added knowledge of the wildlife. Just an overall fun time for us as a group of strangers. I would highly recommend this tour!
