Indulge in authentic Chinese cuisine at hidden gems known only to locals, places you wouldn’t discover on your own. By foot or bike, journey through historic streets like Shichahai, Drum Tower, Beiluoguxiang, Nanluoguxiang, and Yandai Xiejie, uncovering secret local eateries and secluded siheyuan (courtyard houses) along the way. Guided by our foodie experts, you’ll explore ancient alleyways and savor Beijing's best-kept culinary secrets treasured by locals. The experience includes tasting eight classic Beijing snacks, each with over a century of history, and enjoying a full dinner in a traditional siheyuan courtyard setting.

    After meeting at Shichahai Metro Station, we will head to a restaurant for dinner (you'll have three options), a spot known only to locals and difficult to find on your own (optional). After dinner, we will take a stroll along Shichahai to enjoy the beautiful lantern views of Lotus Market.

    2After dinner, wander through the historic Yandai Xiejie, a narrow alley brimming with life and Beijing history. You’ll pass the famous Gulou (Drum Tower), a landmark that offers a glimpse into Beijing’s ancient past. Along the way, your guide will introduce you to some of the area’s most iconic spots, perfect for photo opportunities.

Unforgettable experience with my friends

I joined with four friends, and we all agreed this was one of the best things we did in Beijing. The fusion dishes, like the Beijing-inspired burger, were such a highlight, and the small gift from CNT was a sweet surprise. We learned a lot and had so much fun.

Saw this tour on Facebook and booked it right away on their website. Honestly, it was AMAZING! Sylvia made everything so fun. She took us to these hidden spots in the hutongs where the food was just incredible (seriously, some of the best I’ve had in Beijing). The price was super reasonable too. Highly recommend

I found CNT through another source, and honestly, this tour went way beyond my expectations! The food was all local Beijing specialties, with some dishes having over a hundred years of history!! Our guide is perfect as well! I’d highly recommend this tour! and looking forward to the next trip in Beijing or another city！

I recently joined a local food tour that took us through some hidden alleys, and it was such a memorable experience. Our guide, a true local, knew so many interesting and lesser-known stories about the area’s history and culture. She led us to places we’d never have discovered on our own—small, authentic spots tucked away from the usual tourist paths. One of the highlights was tasting the meat pies and dumplings; they were delicious and clearly a neighborhood favorite. The shop owners were so welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home. I really appreciated how laid-back and uncrowded the tour felt, giving us time to take it all in without the usual rush. Definitely a unique way to see a different side of the city.
