    Following a morning pickup by air-conditioned coach from your Christchurch hotel, transfer to the Christchurch Railway Station where you will board the TranzAlpine train. This has been rated as one of the top 10 train journeys in the world.

    We invite you to join us on a tour of discovery, featuring spectacular scenery. From Christchurch board the world famous TranzAlpine train through to Arthurs Pass

  • Otira Viaduct Lookout

    before viewing and driving down the 440 meter long Otira Viaduct a major NZ engineering project - the viaduct is one the most earthquake prone regions in New Zealand and it has been designed to withstand seismic forces 40 percent higher than the usual maximum for such structures. In the late summer months the bright flowers of red rata (metrosideros umbellata) add to the beauty of the Otira Gorge. This tree is not found on the eastern side of the Southern Alps but blooms only in the moist western valleys, you will also encounter the NZ Kea rated as one of the most intelligent birds in the world they have very inquisitive natures and found in most South Island alpine environments.

On leaving Arthur’s Pass you will travel by road through the foothill ranges of the Southern Alps, in the basins with winter snow there are several small ski fields and with unique limestone rocks surrounding the area this is also popular for rock climbers.

Great day at Arthur's pass

Fabulous fun day with a kind and thoughtful and fun guide. Enjoyed the mix of train, hiking tailored to all levels and the fabulous farm experience!

Even though we booked for two it was like a tour group, our group consisted of 16 guests, great company. The tour guide, Pete, was very informative of the surrounding history and answered any questions people had. He was very friendly. Pick up from our accommodation was a great bonus as it was an early start. The views on the train were spectacular.

Best way to see Arthur's pass area

Before the trip I thought the best part would be the train ride. I was wrong. The best part was our guide, Pete, and the return trip to Christchurch. The stops and mini-hikes were a good way to see the area and the visit to the farm was educational. Pete's commentary and good humor made the trip a great experience.

Awesome tour and staff for reef tour

The tour guides - Cam, Amelia and skipper were all excellent and very friendly and always there to assist you in anything. The boat is relatively new and very smooth ride out to reef. At reef guides took us all along reef in a guided snorkel. It was great to see all the fish , giant clams, and especially the giant turtle. We absolutely loved our afternoon tour and highly recommend. Thanks again.

Fantastic day out with a legand of a tour guide

I would thoroughly recommend this day out to anyone. Our guide was Scotty, who was entertaining and engaging throughout the day. He was a mine of information about New Zealand’s history, its flora, fauna and the geology of the area which brought the experience alive. Trevor and Heather at Toby Hill farm were welcoming fascinating. Its great to support a local business. Keas came to watch us eat lunch. Castle Hill rocks are dramatic and have a serene mystery about them. And finally the train journey has scenic views by the score that are easy to experience from the open carriage.
