Transport yourself back in time and discover the Medieval heritage of Catalonia - enjoy three distinctly unique villages and a scenic drive with views of La Garrotxa Natural Park on this Private Tour. Arrive to Besalu, a Catalan medieval jewel declared National Historical Artistic Site in 1966. Of great architectural value, it’s one of the most notable legacies of the medieval period in Catalonia. In Girona, we’ll get lost through the winding streets and marvel at the Gothic Cathedral and the quaint Gothic Quarter, then we’ll savor the regional products with a complimentary lunch in a local restaurant. Find your inner peace in Pals and have an extraordinary adventure through the cobblestone streets of this cute medieval village from the 13th century.  Then we’ll take you back to your hotel or apartment in Barcelona.

Itinerary

  • Puente de Besalua

    Start your day with hotel or apartment pickup in Barcelona and travel to Besalu in a comfortable vehicle, crossing La Garrotxa Natural Park, a volcanic area. Have a coffee break and start the walking tour across Besalu’s most significant feature - its 12th-century Romanesque bridge.

  • Miqve

    We’ll go inside the restored mikveh, a ritual Jewish bath, as well as see the remains of a medieval synagogue, documented in 1264, from the Jewish community that settled from the 9th to the 15th century.

    Walking tour through this charming village from the Middle Ages. Roam around its idyllic cobbled streets and tiny squares and take in the most beautiful landscape views from on top of the hill next to the Tower of the Hours to spot the Medas islands, a natural park and protected area, in the distance. Enjoy amazing panoramic views before we head back to your hotel or apartment in Barcelona.

What an amazing look into Spain's historical past and beautiful country! We couldn't have asked for a better tour guide! Breathtaking views, an amazing lunch and so much fun. This is a must-see tour!

Really fantastic tour of Besalu, Girona and Pals. The medieval towns are each charming and beautiful to see. The tour was filled with interesting history of each town. Our guide was excellent, and the lunch was delicious in a delicious local restaurant. It was a great day!

Old country charm!

Feliciano was a wonderful guide, he took us to Besalú first, charming old town. We told him we had been to Girona the same day we went to the Dalí Museum. He didnt want us to see the same town twice, so he took us to Tossa. The old town was great and found out that Ava Gardner made the movie Pandora in 1950 in that town. Then we had a wonderful lunch in town.

What a fabulous day we had with Miguel. His commentary was thorough and insightful. We enjoyed each of the towns that we visited, as well as the rides in between towns. The local luncheon is something that we will remember forever. I highly recommend this tour as a way to see Eastern Spain outside of Barcelona. Hats off!

Feliciano was a great tour guide. Knew history and current events and was able to meld them together into a compelling story. Without him it would have been just looking at some old stuff.
