Imlil is the heart of the hiking area and a trekkers paradise and perfect for an Imlil day trip. Travel from your accommodation in Marrakech to the mountains in just 90 minutes. Once you arrive in Imlil, you will immediately feel the warmth of Berber hospitality. Wear some solid walking shoes and depart from the village to trek in the nearby trails to a village called Armed you will experience the beauty of Mount Toubkal from the valley below. Standing at 4170 m Mount Toubkal is a big attraction for day trips and serious trekkers alike

Mountainous Sand Castles of Imlil

The mountainous trek to Imlil was an adventure in itself. Cold and snow covered the day we went it left a lasting impression of how isolated this community and those fairly nearby are in comparison to towns closer to main centers. The dirt and sand structures built into the hillsides look like sandcastles that have stood the test of time. We were fortunate to hire a private driver who navigated the winding, narrow roads with expertise and have us ample opportunity to visit in the little hamlets along the way.
