Overview

Paddle through Class II and III rapids on this fun white water rafting tour down the Balsa River in Costa Rica. On this 2-hour trip downriver, your guide will lead you through the easy and exciting rapids that flow through Costa Rica rainforest. Keep an eye on the land and sky for monkeys, sloths, and birds. After rafting, reward your efforts with a scrumptious lunch at the famous Hunters and Gatherers restaurant next to the El Salto Swimming Hole and waterfall. Bonus: If you want to hang out later at the swimming hole, no worries. Hotel transport to and from La Fortuna area hotels and lodging is included.

Fun rafting trip

We had a great time rafting on the Balsa river! The trip was very well organized, and our guide Marco was very good at giving clear directions. Once on the river, Marco made sure we had a great trip! We stayed in the boat, except for one section of the river where we were able to jump out. The rapids were exciting & challenging enough for us. We enjoyed a stop for fresh fruit. Marco pointed out fish, birds & even a few sloths very high up in the tree. Marco and his colleagues made sure it was an excellent experience for our whole group.

Whitewater Rafting Costa Rica

We almost canceled because of the heavy rain, but so glad we didn’t. Desafio is very professional with qualified guides and well cared for equipment. It was fun and even thrilling in places with some raised river levels from rain. There is a safety kayaker in front, advising our lead on conditions so there were no concerns. Loads of action, water sprays, manageable maneuvers across the II, III rapids. The lunch after was great. Highly recommended.

Amazing Day on the Rapids

The guys at Desafio were absolutely great! A big Thank you to our transfer guide/Costa Rican historian Rollo and our raft guide, "Fluffy!" From the minute Rollo picked us up at our hotel til the time he dropped us off, he was amazing. So full of unique facts about Costa Rica. Our rafting guide, Fluffy was also just as amazing. Not only did he keep us all in the boat the entire time down the river but his jokes and easy manner was a perfect fit for my family's needs. Not to mention the delicious Farm to Table lunch after the tour was delicious! Thank you again to all of the guides at Desafio for making it a great experience for us! Pura Vida Fellas!
