Overview

Discover the treasures of the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica on this in-depth group tour. In the company of an expert guide, you’ll learn about the history of the Vatican and the geniuses of the Renaissance, including Michelangelo, Raphael and Leonardo Da Vinci. Highlights include the masterpieces of the often overlooked Pinacoteca (“Picture Gallery”), famous statues such as “Laocoon” and the "Apollo del Belvedere" and the sublime ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

You will meet your guide at the flower stand on the corner of Viale Giulio Cesare and Via Leone IV at Viale Giulio Cesare, 237. They will have a Through Eternity sign or flag.

Please inform us when you are booking if you fit into these requirements and we will remove the pricing of the entry tickets from the price of the tour.
  • Please note that to obtain a student discount, valid student ID must be shown on the day of your tour. If a student does not have valid student ID, they may be charged a new full ticket price by the Museums, which must be paid by you on the day of the tour.
  • As this is a walking tour with steps and staircases, comfortable walking shoes and a bottle of water are strongly recommended.
  • Please advise during the booking process if any travelers have mobility concerns so that we can best accommodate you.
  • At the end of your tour, you are required to return the headset provided to you to your guide. In the event that you do not return the headset, you will be subject to a fine of €100 for lost property.

First Time in Vatican City was Amazing with Through Eternity Tours!!

We LOVED our experience with Guia Grandi at Through Eternity. Our tour came highly recommended by a family member and it did not disappoint. Guia was SO knowledgeable and passionate about history and was eager to answer any questions we had. She paced the tour excellently and focused on all the important pieces during our time in the Vatican. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the 5 hour tour to anyone who is wanting an amazing experience in Vatican City.

Worth the extended time!

I cannot recommend the extended 5-hour tour of the Vatican enough! We had a small group of 5 people which made navigating the crowds so much easier. You could spend weeks in the museums and Basilica but it still wouldn’t be enough time. Without a guide I would be so lost. The extended tour went by quickly, but it was the perfect amount of time for a first-time visitor. Our guide, Cynthia, was fabulous. She was so kind and patient and made sure to make our experience as personalized as possible. I was blown away by her knowledge and so grateful to have this curated tour. I was 5 months pregnant at the time of tour and worried 5 hours would be too much, but it wasn’t! We even climbed the Basilica on our own at the end. I read through several websites and blogs to pick the best tour to suit our needs and I am so thankful we went with ThroughEternity. If you have the option to do the extended tour, I would absolutely take the opportunity.

Our guide Eugenia was excellent. She is an absolute expert on the history of the art we saw! Even though it was impossible to have seen everything there was a lot of info packed into just 5 short hours.
