We were on a boat trip to visit Singapore’s kelongs with Robin.
He was very knowledgable about fish farming in Singapore and we were brought to see an original, disused kelong with stilts . Many of these original kelongs have vanished from Singapore due to abandonment of the traditional fishing methods.
As we plied the Johore Sraits , passing Pulau Ubin, we were treated to sights of migratory terns, a hornbill flying over head, Long tailed macques up in the trees on Ubin and silvery ikan bilis jumping out of the water as they skimmed along the water’s surface.
Dinner at Smith Marine Restaurant gave us the opportunity to see a working fish farm and to catch a beautiful sunset before heading back to land.
A very unique experience that one should not miss!
