My girlfriend and I were looking for a black-led, black history tour of New Orleans on our recent visit. We found Anansi’s Daughters via Google and TripAdvisor. What good fortune!!
Malika is an exceptional guide and a veritable fountain of knowledge about the history and culture of New Orleans. She radiates passion and joy as she shares colorful, nuanced, multi-dimensional stories drawn from her own lineage as well as her extensive scholarship about topics that span a wide spectrum that includes New Orleans Jazz, African and Black Indian peoples, Vodou, Hoodoo, Ifa, and more.
We could have spent many more enthralled hours in her presence and would only have scratched the surface of what she has to share. Best part is that she never tells the history the same way twice so even if you repeat rhetoric tour, you’ll learn new things and be glad you did!
