Overview

Our excursion focuses exclusively on Teotihuacan. We do not cram additional sites to speed through Teotihuacan. This trip is for individuals that want ample time in Teotihuacan to appreciate the archaeological site. The majority of the trip is in Teotihuacan and its surroundings. We include almost anything you can think of that you will need throughout the day. You should be able to hop on the transport and worry about just exploring throughout the day.

Itinerary

  • El Angel de la Independencia (Pass By)

    After being picked up and before departing, the host will provide some details about this national landmark.

  • Teotihuacan Pyramids

    Drive one hour to arrive at the Archaeological Park of Teotihuacan. Restrooms are available upon arrival.

  • Templo de Quetzalcóatl

    Your host will then begin the morning at the "Templo de Quetzacoatl." (30 minutes) They will provide historical information and details before proceeding to walk through "la calzada de los muertos," the main access point used back then to move throughout the city. (30 minutes)

  • Museo de Sitio Teotihuacan

    After walking and exploring the walkway, there will be another restroom opportunity. The group will then enter "el Museo de la Cultura Teotihuacana", the park museum that hosts significant archaeological findings that were found in Teotihuacan throughout the decades as they continue to unearth new findings today. (30 minutes)

  • Pyramid of the Sun

    Immediately leaving the Museum, the Sun Pyramid will be next to the museum. Time will be spent discussing major and significant points related to that pyramid. (30 minutes) Please note that there is no longer any access to climbing the pyramids and any group offering such experience has outdated information posted. Please be aware that this excursion may involve physical activities and terrain that could pose challenges for individuals with certain disabilities.   • Piramide de la Luna

    Shortly afterward, the group will transition to the Moon Pyramid. (30 minutes)

  • Palacio de Quetzalpapálotl

    Finally, before preparing to exit the park, the group will visit “el palacio de Quetzalpapalotl,” one of the partially restored ruins that allows you to imagine what this magnificent city once was. There will be another restroom opportunity before leaving the park. (30 minutes)

  • Temazcal Tlalocan Oficial

    We will then transition to exploring the subterranean caves that were once also pre-Teotihuacan homes and later sacred spaces for the Teotihuacan people. Before entering the caves, we will take break playing pre-Hispanic ball. (10 minutes) In the caves, we will proceed to explore what people today and back then considered sacred spaces, including a section of the cave that can offer a mystical awe. (50 minutes) Please be aware that this excursion may involve physical activities and terrain that could pose challenges for individuals with certain disabilities.   • San Martin de las Piramides

    Lunch is our next stop. It is a five-course lunch that offers a variety of different flavors of food from central Mexico. Please notify host if special dietary restrictions need be observed. (60 minutes) Finally, there will be an optional tequila and mezcal tasting along with other local products before heading home. Here there will also be an explanation of how some of Mexico’s most traditional products are made. (30 minutes)

    From here we will travel back south to arrive back in Mexico City. (60 minutes)

Tania was an AMAZING tour guide for Teotihuacán! She gave us a clear meeting point and made sure we had blankets for the morning when it was cool plus water and snacks for us as it got warmer. She showed us the pyramids, the details and the gods, how the pyramids were laid out, and why the site was structured the way it was. She guided us through the museum and pointed out some artifacts she had mentioned earlier, then showed us sacred caves with modern and older religious meaning. On top of that, she had curated a five-course lunch with drinks and dessert which was incredible -- followed by a visit to see various minerals (including obsidian) and to taste various drinks (pulque, mezcal, pistachio liqueur). The tour was superbly organized and a delight. Much thanks to Tania: she was GREAT!

This tour went beyond our expectations. Tanya was incredibly personable, fun, prepared and well-informed about everything she showed us. We learned so much and had a REALLY fun time with her. This tour was wonderful. Tania truly thought of everything we may need for a day exploring Mexico's history from blankets and coffee for the early morning drive to the Teotihuacan archeological park to water, umbrellas, sunscreen and snacks for the 4 hour walking tour to helmets and flashlights for the cave exploration. Every detail was thought out and Tania passionately shared her knowledge of Mexico's origins with us. 10/10 recommend

Great way to spend a day!

Great tour if you want to get a thorough understanding of the pyramids and experience the local area's geography and food. It's and intimate and fun way to experience a truly awe-inspiring archeological site. - This tour is great for parties that prefer the smaller group/party instead of the large tour buses. The itinerary is very thoughtful; you'll spend most of the day at the pyramids. There is a stop at a workshop to discuss the dogs, agave/mezcal and minerals local to Mexico, but there's no pressure to purchase anything. - Tan is a knowledgeable guide, very familiar with the site and can answer questions. - This tour sweats the small stuff, in the best way. The itinerary online is very detailed, which gave me a lot of comfort in what to expect. Tan made sure my friend and me were comfortable on the ride out and back with blankets, coffee and snacks, she had sunscreen, water and umbrellas, there was always toilet paper available and restroom stops were always noted. She even moved the car when my friend mentioned her ankle would sometimes get irritated, just so we would have a shorter distance to walk back. - Super glad to have a thoughtfully planned and delicious lunch!
