Overview

Welcome to The Vasa Museum considered as one TOP 10 museums in the World and is a must while visiting Stockholm. During this private tour you will be able to admire The Vasa which is the only ship in the World of its kind. Commissioned by King Gustav II Adolf during Sweden's Great Power Era, this war ship was built between 1626 and 1628 and was to be the most powerful warship not only in the Baltic Sea, but in the entire world. But just 20 minutes into its maiden voyage, the Vasa capsized and sank into the Stockholm Harbor on August 10, 1628. After lying on the seabed for 333 years, the Vasa was rediscovered and salvaged and is today the best preserved and the only 1600s’ galleon in the world. More than 98% of the Vasa is totally original, including masts and sails, so it does not appear to be a ship that was wrecked, but rather it seems to be a ship awaiting her next trip.

Grateful for the guided tour

This was exceptional experience and even more so by having Maria Fernanda as my guide here and the Royal Palace. I’m sure that when I go back to Stockholm, I will be in contact with her again for more Stockholm insights. Well worth all the time. Lifetime of memories now! Also, when you both Maria Fernanda is listed as FER so be sure to ask for her!

We came to the Vasa on a damp day with large crowds. FER DONOSO TOURS met us with ease and took us straight in. Bypassing the crowds the insight and outlines she gave were insightful and entertaining. Even before our visit, we were welcomed almost as an honoured family guest by email. The tour was simply excellent. We could not imagaine the Vasa without this tour. We also were given advice on other spots in Stockholm we were seeing, as well as a gracious, witty and energetic hostess. Do oyurself a favour and book a tour with DER DONOSO!

The best tour guide

Our tour guide was Fer Donoso who was wonderful. We were a bit late getting to the museum as the taxi got caught in traffic, but Fer was happy to wait for us. She was very knowledgeable, professional and answered all our silly questions. She even gave us information about subjects outside her purview like how much to pay for a taxi & which ones to get & which ones to avoid. I would highly recommend Fer as an excellent tour guide
