Overview

Pre-book the tickets without having to wait for long lines. Uncover the truth that lies across the walls of the museum, located on the right bank of the river, Tiber, near the Vatican City. Admire the stones, marbles and artefacts that narrate the transformation that have happened over the centuries. It was a monumental tomb, a fortress in the medieval ages and it became a defensive post for barbarian invasions. A must see to all visitors, walk through the 5 floors of the museum heading towards a spiral ramp, admire the cells, including relics, rooms served as a Papal residence and chamber of ashes where you can marvel the remains of Roman successors and frescoes preserved perfectly. End this wonderful trip on the roof of the Castle’s astonishing terrace of Angel and have a picturesque view of the whole city, a great place to take pictures and admire the sunset. From a spectacular view on top, be prepared to spot the Vatican City , the Tiber river and the famous, Bridge of Angels.

Interesting history, cool views

Really cool and interesting castle both visually and historically! The views of the basilica were especially amazing from the top in addition to the rest of vatican city and rome! A little rainy that day (to no fault of anyones) so spent a little less time on the outer portions, but overall a great time!

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a construction and history. These Romans do not play. The art work in each room were jaw dropping. We went all the way to the top and the view was amazing. Cannot find the words to describe. You need to see for yourself. Beautiful and talking about well built. We did not have a personal your and we walked at our own pace. The tour operator was waiting outside the castle to give us our passes for access. Magnifico! Thanks Viator!

A beautiful day on Angel’s Terrace

We had an excellent time! It was very easy to find our tour guide - one of the employees at the front entrance pointed them out to us. We went over and we’re promptly shown how to download the tools we needed for the audio tour, handed our entry tickets, and walked right past the giant queue. We loved the freedom of being able to walk around at our own pace, while still having the audio guide to listen to, which also served as a great guide to let us know we didn’t miss anything. The artwork was amazing, the history was astounding, and views were spectacular from Angel’s Terrence. Would definitely recommend going on the tour — especially at sunset like we did!

Walked right in. No problems. Took longer than hour to get to top!! Than had to Leave to get to another site.
