Overview

This tour helps a traveler discover the unique heritage and culture of Cayman via the lovely restored two-story Pedro St James Castle, an 18th- century-style building and is the most extensive restoration project in Cayman history. A 20-minute drive from George Town. Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park enables visitors to learn more about the local flora and fauna and see the very rare and almost extinct Blue Iguana.

    Enjoy a leisurely walk through colorful gardens, botanic, lake and nature displays. Stroll through Heritage Garden, enjoy the Tea House with its panoramic views, and the lake area which forms a natural habitat for the Cayman Blue Iguana and breeding ground for a variety of rare aquatic birds and animals native to the Caribbean. When Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II opened Grand Cayman’s Botanic Park in 1994, only the Woodland Trail was complete.In the ensuing years, the grounds have grown and developed into the full fledged world-class facility that is operating today. THE QUEEN ELIZABETH II BOTANIC PARK IS A UNIQUE BLEND OF NATURAL BEAUTY, CULTURE AND HISTORY. Enjoy the simple elegance of a traditional Caymanian garden with the startling beauty of an exotic floral display. Spend an hour or two… or a full day!   • Pedro St. James National Historic Site

    Discover the unique heritage and culture of Cayman via this lovingly restored window into the 18th century that’s only a 20-minute drive from George Town. At a time in the Cayman Islands when most people lived in tiny, thatch-covered houses, a wealthy Englishman, using slave labour from Jamaica, created an astonishing 3-storey building called Pedro St. James. In the 1990s, the Government of the Cayman Islands purchased Pedro St. James and painstakingly restored the Great House to the splendor of its 18th century heritage. Today, visitors can stroll through the imposing edifice with its period furniture and authentic artifacts to experience what life was like so long ago in Cayman’s history.

Beautiful flowers & Great Tour

I was worried I wouldn't be able to walk around much because of a recent knee replacement but they totally took care of me. Hall drove us around in a golf cart so I could see everything & made stops along the way so I could get out & see the beautiful flowers up close. We loved our tour.

Botanical Park Amazing!!

The Botanical Park is wonderful. Many flowers. Laid out nicely. Not hard to walk through. The gift shop is very nice also. Pedro St. James was a nice historical stop to give you an idea of the history of Grand Cayman. Highly recommend.

Best Cayman tour

This has been our best tour so far. Our tour guide, Vanessa was fabulous! She knew so much history of the island but it was the way she told the story, very entertaining. Not only did she tell us about the St. James castle but also the foods of the island and how to cook them in dishes. Delbert, our driver was super nice. He also was very knowledgeable about the island. He even pulled over so we could take pictures of iguanas . I would recommend this tour with family and friends

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. Saw several blue iguanas in the sanctuary ... also saw other iguanas, turtles and birds. Great spot for kids - child play area. Trails are well shaded, flat and you will see lots of wild life and beautiful foliage. Easy for young and old to get around. Really enjoyed the variety of orchids. The blue iguana sanctuary has many guys in their own concrete pens. Beautiful dragon looking guys - and they are well taken care of.
