Overview

Private Tour by car or Van with a local guide to see Furnas area. Furnas is located in almost the middle east of Sao mIguel island, where you can find the Caldeiras (fumaroles), and one of the richest places in Europe in terms of thermal and medicinal waters (22 different springs). You can also find one of the most diverse places in terms of vegetation, and probably the most beautiful botanical garden on the Azores "Parque Terra Nostra Garden" (12.5 hectares), within which you will find a hot geothermal pool (with a temperature between 41 at 42 degrees). Taste one of the most famous gastronomy of the Azores, the "Cozido das Furnas" stew. Furnas is close to the only tea plantation in Europe (where green tea and 3 types of black tea are produced).

Amazing tour

Flavio was a spectacular guide! He was extremely flexible and accommodating with pickup and timing. He is very knowledgable about the island and its history and showed us so many sites that would not be possible with a larger tour. Extremely safe driver and nice person, highly recommended!

Wow! Not what I expected

We did three full day tours with Cesar to explore Sao Miguel. What a fun time! What a beautiful place! Sunset was fantastic! Cesar made us feel like family and went above and beyond to show us the beauty of Sao Miguel. Loved the vibe of Sao Miguel. So laid back!

Best Tour of the Trip!!

This was an absolutely amazing tour!! We had the best guide who was raised in the Azores and had so much knowledge of the history and the all the local spots that may be missed by being on a tour bus. Every place we went to was better than the last. We were even able to sample some of the local food and learn about the culture. The tour was at our own pace, but I do not feel like I missed out on anything. The Azores are so beautiful!! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone!!!

Exceptional insight into Sao Miguel island

I did a private tour with Gary focusing on the Furnas area in Sao Miguel, and it was my best decision in being able to take time and see some of the best photography spots on the island. I would recommend to anyone looking to skip the larger tourist crowds especially during summer, to do a private tour instead as this will give anyone the opportunity and time to learn in-depth the history of Sao Miguel, it's locations, people and events. His colleague, Caesar, who did my transfer, also gave detailed information about the town I was travelling to, stopping by also for a few minutes for some sunset photos. I definitely would recommend the team from Azorean tours, especially for anyone looking for in-depth personalized tour guiding, so Gary thanks again! :-)

We just came back from Sao Miguel and can’t stop talking about our beautiful adventure..
