  • Shanghai Museum (Shanghai Bowuguan)

    Your private guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel, and then take you to visit Shanghai Museum. Covering an area of 40,000 square meters (47,840 square yards), it is a huge treasure house of ancient Chinese arts. You can take time to enjoy a fantastic collection of ancient Chinese art at the museum.

  • Yu Garden (Yuyuan)

    After that, follow your guide to visit the Yu Garden, once a private garden owned by a court official. Now it has become an internationally recognized historical site. Here you will see, clear ponds, bizarre rockeries and lush plants harmoniously blending to create a natural atmosphere throughout the garden. Your knowledgeable guide will share historic stories with you.

  • Yuyuan Bazar

    After leaving the garden, you will be guided to the nearby Yuyuan market to take a leisurely walk along the bustling pedestrian street. The pseudo-classic architectures lie along ancient streets to form a market selling souvenirs and snacks. You may have lunch here on your own choices.

  • The Bund (Wai Tan)

    In the afternoon, hanging out in the Shanghai Bund, where you can capture the essence of both old and modern Shanghai. It is seated on the eastern bank of the Huangpu River, and faces the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and Jin Mao Tower in Pudong on the opposite bank. Snap marvelous photos of this glamorous view and enjoy some leisure time here.

    Then, you will take a one-hour Huangpu River Cruise with the company of your guide. Cruising on the Huangpu River will provide you with a superb experience of viewing the Bund, enjoying the beauty of the river and taking nice photos of the high-rise architectural complex of Pudong from a different perspective.

  • Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road)

    Finally, you will pay a visit to the prosperous Nanjing Road to fully experience the city's prosperity and jolly atmosphere. After that, your guide will escort you back to the hotel.

A great way to see the sights of Shanghai

We had a fantastic day with Chloe our guide. Despite the typhoon weather, we were able to have a good day seeing the sights and making the most of our time in Shanghai. Chloe was able to tailor the day to fit our interests and was a pleasure to spend time with. We enjoyed trying the different Shanghai speciality’s and the museum was a highlight.

In Shanghai my trip was accompanied by @sophieLee and she is very good, caring and friendly. She cooperated well and made all arrangements including food as per our preference. We did a one day tour in Shanghai. We visited the Yu Garden, which is an oasis of calm in the midst of the city, walked along the Bund, took a cruise on the Huangpu River, visited the bookstore on the 52nd floor of the Shanghai Tower, and more. It was a full day and we got to see many different aspects of the city. Our guide, Martin, was wonderful and very informative. We greatly enjoyed our time in the city.

We saw Shanghai as part of an 11-day tour that included Nanjing, Suzhou, and Hangzhou. We saw the French quarters first. It was good, but many of the stores were closed because it was early in the morning. Arrange to go in the evening if possible. Later, we went on the Huangpu River cruise. Ryan pointed out many of the key buildings and sites that helped us decide where to go during our free time. When we returned to Shanghai at the end of our 11-day tour, we saw the Shanghai Museum and the Yu Garden. The Shanghai Museum had a lot of great exhibits, but as with many museums, there is never enough time. Ryan pointed out many interesting details in the Yu Garden that could easily have been missed. The details and explanation made the visit to the garden a lot more meaningful. Overall, we had a great time in Shanghai.
