Overview

London is amazing but hectic so why not have a relaxing day in the English Countryside instead visiting The Cotswolds and beyond on a Downton Abbey themed tour with me. We visit Highclere Castle grounds and gardens, home of Lord and Lady Grantham, Lady Mary and the Dowager (CASTLE/GARDEN TICKETS ARE NOT INCLUDED & MUST BE PURCHASED BY CLIENT) We then tour the beautiful Cotswold villages and countryside that Downton Abbey brought to our screens in both TV/film and is a truly remarkable place. We stop at Shops. Churches, market square, thatched cottages, village halls, cricket grounds and rose gardens. Lunch can be taken in an Old English Pub where you can relax eating perhaps fish n chips or some local ales? Or I can take you to a very English Garden tea shop … the choice is both yours and endless! The afternoon is then driving through more countryside and villages chauffeured by your very own Branson before returning to your own place of residence listening to music of your choice.

  • Highclere Castle

    IF YOU have purchased Highclere Castle tickets then you spend 2-3 hours taking in the magnificence of the actual present day Aristocratic Castle of Lord and Lady Canarvon. You will see the interior and grounds where the Grantham’s lived and where so much of the Downton drama played out.

  • Bampton

    We walk around the delightful Downton Abbey village on The edge of the Cotswolds and visit St Mary’s Church, The Crawfords house, Village Green and see where so many scenes were filmed in stunning Bampton.

  • Earl Shilton

    Visit the quaint Hamlet of Shilton which is the picture postcard location of where Mr Bates was brought back to Downton when the unsavoury murder charge was levelled at him. Complete with ford, gardens and architecture this is a lovely stop.

  • Swinbrook

    We seek out the most romantic pub in The Cotswolds where Tom Branson and Lady Sybil eloped to❤️ Swinbrook is in its self a lovely spot and we can visit the pub and gardens too for a an ale or coffee.

    In addition to the Downton experience we visit/drive through the outstanding natural beauty of The Cotswolds in whatever time is left over. This normally includes an hour for lunch if required

Customized day was a great decision!

My mom wanted to see the Cotswolds and the villages of Downton Abbey. We got so much more. Unfortunately Highclere was closed but Barry was open to consider other castle options and villages that filmed my mom’s other favorite shows including Father Brown. We emailed back and forth with ideas and places. With it being private, having the personal touch was key to this flexibility and making it so much more special. Barry knows his history and was a great conversationalist that really made the difference in the day not to mention mom is an older lady who’s not so quick on her feet which is an issue with the bigger group tours. Having the small taxi also helps navigate into villages that would’ve never been possible with the bigger tours. It was worth it and again, thank you Barry for a great day!

From the journey itself, in a comfortable taxi, accompanied by Barry, a very knowledgeable, friendly, and kind guide, who gave us the time we needed to appreciate the landscapes and places we visited. Highclere Castle is the icing on the cake of the day, but I’d like to point out that all the other stops are also extremely interesting, and the scenery is breathtaking. This experience is highly recommended for fans of the show, but even those who aren't will be amazed.

I was alone and Mr. Barry treated me like a Queen. I did the Downton Abbey tour and he was so knowledgeable of everything DA. He even took me to sights I had forgotten about. I saw everything I had hoped to and much more. Late afternoon he was talking about where we were going next and I finally said I was tired. So worth every penny I spent.
