Itinerary

  • Ram Fortress

    The guide will pick you up from your address in Belgrade at 9am (start time can be customized on request) and after two hours drive your first stop is the Ram Fortress from the XV century, built in the Ottoman times by a Turkish sultan. As you wander through its ancient walls and towers, you’ll be transported back in time, absorbing tales of its historical significance. This recently renovated fortress is yet to be discovered by travelers, so be one the first to explore this still secret gem.

  • Golubac Fortress

    Next one is the captivating Golubac Fortress. This Medieval town is placed at the entrance of the Iron Gates and touches Danube waters with part of its walls. Many legends are connected to this fortress and four of them are in relation to its name. You'll learn more about the place from your guide who will accompany you during a walk through the fortresses towers, gates and walkways. NOTE: Golubac Fortress is closed on Mondays.

    After exploration of two fortresses on the Danube, it's time for a well deserved break. Lunch is planned (not included in the price) at a local restaurant on the very Danube bank. Local specialties are river fish and grilled meat dishes, but if you are a vegetarian or a vegan, there will be a choice of food for you as well. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.

  • Smederevo Fortress

    ​From the Golubac Fortress, you'll return a bit back in time to the mid 15th century when the next site was founded. Smederevo fortress, considered to be one of the biggest medieval fortresses in Europe. Surrounded by two rivers and with 19 towers it was impossible to conquer. Over here you will find out how the medieval Serbian ruler balanced between raising threats - the Ottoman Empire and Hungarian Kingdom. Many national folk legends are connected with this fortress and your guide will be glad to share them with you.

Andrija and Serbian Private Tours are a way to see Serbia

We completed 4 tours with Serbian Private tours. the experience was nothing less than fabulous. Miljan accompanied us on all the days and we were impressed with his knowledge and willingness to share big and small details about every place we went to. i want to personally thank him for all the beautiful pictures of our family he has shared with us. Our Iron Gate trip plus Fort

We had a wonderful day trip. First we saw the fort and wandered around. Lots of personal touches and what I enjoyed was the guide Andrija taking photographs of us, as I am always the photographer and therefore never seem to be recorded as being on holiday. Lots of interesting facts learnt about Serbia and the areas we were travelling to. Lepenski Vir was interesting. The highlight was the boat trip through Iron Gorge, lots to see. Then lunch at a unique family run little place. Andrija was such a pleasant young man and very attentive. Really enjoyed experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed this full day tour with Miljan who was more than happy to answer all our questions. The wonderful lunch of traditional Serbian food in the garden of a private home was the highlight of the day and the views of the Iron Gate gorge were amazing. Miljan went the extra mile to take us to the narrowest part of the gorge which was much appreciated. We were delighted to later receive some lovely photos Miljan had taken during our tour, great memories of an excellent day!
